Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ Joe Tate’s mystery caller in game-changing Noah Dingle twist

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that they have worked out who Joe Tate has been speaking to on the phone as his mysterious plan to get Noah Dingle to Dubai is exposed

Emmerdale fans believe they’ve figured out who Joe Tate has been chatting with on the phone as he continues his scheme to get Noah Dingle to Dubai.

Since his return to the Dales last year, the scheming Joe (Ned Porteous) has found himself embroiled in more controversy.

He’s been having a secret affair with Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley), which Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has discovered.

However, rather than exposing Joe’s secret, Charity has been more worried about his influence over her son Noah.

In recent episodes of the ITV soap, Joe has been trying to persuade his half-brother Noah (Jack Downham) to relocate to Dubai for an undisclosed reason.

After Joe sabotaged Noah’s online business and nicked his tools, Noah considered the offer and decided to give life in the United Arab Emirates a shot, much to Joe’s delight.

But Noah soon sensed that things might not be as they appear and chose to stay in the village, leaving Charity relieved. However, Joe was left seething with Noah’s decision and has tried to sway him to change his mind.

On Wednesday (February 12), a stressed-out Joe made a call to an unidentified person, confirming his desire for Noah to be part of some sort of enigmatic plan.

Emmerdale viewers have since been speculating about who Joe is talking to on the phone, with some fans convinced it’s Joe and Noah’s father, Chris Tate (Peter Amory) – despite the character being deceased, reports Leeds Live.

Chris first popped up on the scene in 1989, battling with inner demons after a horrific plane crash that left him paralysed from the waist down.

Life dealt him some tough cards, what with family rows galore involving his old man and wicked stepmum Kim Tate (Claire King).

The businessman’s love life was like a rollercoaster, too – especially his fling with Charity. To top off his misfortune, he discovered a brain tumour with no chance of a cure.

In an explosive exit, Chris took matters into his own hands and kissed the world goodbye, setting up Charity to take the fall for his ‘murder’. His dramatic adieu hit screens in September 2003.

One fan mused on Facebook: “Anyone else got the feeling Chris Tate is not really dead”, sparking a convo where another chimed in, “You could be right deffo something dodgy”. Someone else piped up, “He died on screen”, only for another to chime in with a reminder of soap opera antics à la Dallas: “So did Bobby Ewing. You know how soaps work.”

And yet another reckoner spilled the beans: “Chris Tate will be returning from the dead next year sometime in July and August time as they have done big hints about Kim’s future”.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
