Gino D’Acampo has been accused of making “distressing and inappropriate” remarks, which he denies, and just weeks before these allegations the TV chef noted that he hadn’t been cancelled yet
Gino D’Acampo noted that he hadn’t been “cancelled” yet shortly before recent allegations about the TV chef, which he denies.
Back in October 2024, Gino joked that he was “the most censored man on TV” and that behind the scenes, people working on his shows would “freak out” as he “doesn’t know where to draw the line”. Gino then spoke to Heatworld about his career and stated: “ITV freak out when they give me a show.”
“But they know that I mean well and whatever I say, it comes from a good place. I don’t do anything I wouldn’t do in everyday life.”
D’Acampo also touched upon the topic of celebrity cancellations: “Thinking about how many people have been cancelled nowadays, who came out of the spotlight for one reason or another, right or wrong…well, I’m still here and I have no intention of going anywhere.”
Gino admitted that he is “super thankful” for his career and acknowledged “if the moment comes that someone doesn’t like me on television anymore, so be it”.
When asked if he regretted anything in his career, which has spanned over 15 years, the TV chef responded: “No. If I said it, I meant it, and if I meant it, then it’s cool. Without sounding like an a******, I don’t care what people have to say about me.”
“On social media, for example, why would I even bother reading comments and replying? Of course, there are some people who are going to love what you do and some people who are going to hate it.”
Gino confessed that “it’s not about awards, money or fame,” but rather “being able to do something that you like for many years”. The former This Morning star’s comments have come to light after recent allegations of “distressing” and “inappropriate behaviour” were made against him, spanning over 12 years.
ITV News launched an investigation into the TV star’s behaviour, which was publicised on 6 February and claims to have spoken to “dozens” of people who accused him of making “unacceptable, distressing and horrendous” comments, all of which he “firmly denies”.
D’Acampo released a statement regarding the allegations shortly after they were made public. The chef said: “”I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago.”
“I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me.”
Gino claimed that the “allegations were never raised with him before” and that he “takes such matters extremely seriously,” closing off by stating: “The suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.”
