Holly Willoughby once downed shots with the famous pair and retold the story before looking back at a hilarious This Morning blunder that was made on the day of Stephen Hawking’s death
Holly Willoughby has spilt the tea on a wild night out which once saw her throwing back shots with the late Stephen Hawking. The former This Morning presenter, 43, appeared on the Graham Norton Show on Friday (February 7) alongside fellow guest and host Alan Carr.
The pair were joined by stars Robert De Niro, Elton John, Mikey Madison and Brandi Carlisle. During their stint on the legendary red sofa, they got straight into it, revealing they once did shots with the legendary physicist, who died in 2018, at a party.
Reminiscing on the “wild” night, the Dancing on Ice host said she was “very lucky” to meet him. “I was very lucky to meet him one time, and I think you were there, too. We went to a party and he was there and we did shots with him and he was quite wild.”
Holly also recalled how she had been presenting This Morning on the day the physicist died, aged 76. She said they shared a special memorial tribute video in his honour, reports Mail.
They had planned to dedicate the show that day to Hawking with a moving song and a black-and-white image.
Instead, the sound guy pushed the wrong button and played Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass, she recalls. “And there was nothing we could do,” she added.
Stephen Hawking passed away on March 14, 2018, after living for more than 50 years with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Born in Oxford, he was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge.
