WWE legend Hulk Hogan died on Thursday morning in a Florida hospital and a cause of death has since been confirmed by police as cardiac arrest.
Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan reportedly lost sensation in the lower half of his body before passing away at 71.
The WWE superstar, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, sadly died in a Florida hospital on Thursday (24.07. 25) morning following cardiac arrest. Reports have emerged that in his last months, Hogan had been using a cane for mobility and was recuperating from multiple surgeries.
Hogan had been grappling with persistent health issues, including chronic back and neck pain, a testament to his years spent battling it out in the wrestling ring. In February 2023, The Sun spotted him walking aided by a cane.
A month prior, fellow wrestler Kurt Angle, 55, revealed on The Kurt Angle Show that the WWE icon had completely lost feeling in his legs following surgery, stating: “He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body. So (he) uses his cane to walk around.”
Kurt further explained: “I thought he was using the cane because he had pain in his back. He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. He can’t feel anything.”
At the time, Hulk’s representative refuted these claims to Entertainment Tonight, asserting: “Everything is OK with him. Hulk is someone with a lot of humour.”
In the lead-up to his death, Hulk had frequented the hospital.
His most recent surgical procedure in June was a four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion – an intricate operation aimed at alleviating his neck issues.
Hulk Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, 45, updated fans on Instagram about her husband’s condition following his “intense surgery with a long and layered healing process”.
She explained that the surgery had impacted his vocal cords and necessitated the use of breathing and feeding tubes.
Sky continued: “He’s healing and we’re taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience.”
Amidst swirling social media rumours suggesting Hogan was in a coma, Daily refuted these claims.
“No, he’s definitely not in a coma!” she confirmed, as reported by PennLive.
She further clarified: “His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage.”
In the days leading up to Hulk’s passing, his longtime manager, 81 year old Jimmy Hart, reassured fans on X: “Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal!”
