EXCLUSIVE: Conor McGregor announced the singing of new girl band on the block Sweet Love – we spoke to their manager to find out about how the collaboration came about
There is a new girl band on the block and according to Conor McGregor they could be the as big the Spice Girls.
Now those are giant shoes to fill, but the bands manager confirms that the “super talented” group who are from “humble beginnings” just like Conor, have all got what it takes to shoot for the stars. On Wednesday (January 13), the MMA star shared a clip online of him standing with the quartet as he announced the big news of their signing to his record label, Green Back Records.
In the video, Conor could be heard saying: “It’s an amazing day at Green Back Records, I’m super proud as we’ve decided to announce the signing of the biggest girl band since the Spice Girls, introducing Sweet Love. Over here, we have the beautiful Venice, we have the beautiful Honey, the gorgeous Yasmine and and the gorgeous Maya!
“We have new music coming soon, real soon, stay tuned and follow us on @sweetlove. Let’s go Sweet Love, let’s go Green Back Records. Sweet Love to the top!”
But if you are keen to know more about the stunning squad, which consists of Yasmine, Honey, Maya and Venice, then keep reading as we spoke to their manager and former East 17 member Blair Dreelan about the group.
When asked how their connection with Conor came about, Blair told us that he reached out to the star online and then flew the girls out to Ireland to meet him in person. Blair told us: “He’s been a great support so far, and despite him being a really busy man, he’s been across everything and wants to know how he can help.
“He’s really excited and even said the girls could be the next Spice Girls, as they’re an amazing talent. He usually picks up big rap artists that are linked to the UFC world but when we presented Sweet Love, he was blown away.”
Sharing how the group, who are aged between 19 – 21, feel about the Spice Girls comparison, he added: “The girls are honoured to be linked to such as great band and right now there is a space for the next big girl band.”
Despite only being together for a year and a half, after being put together by Blair and founding member Yasmine, the girls have already supported some huge acts on stage including S Club 7 and Strictly Come Dancing star HRVY.
Blair confessed to “throwing the girls under the bus” last year when chucking them into the deep end with their first shows, and instead of starting small, they supported S Club 7 on their reunion tour.
After performing popular cover songs all year and growing their fan base on social media, the girls are getting closer and closer to releasing their first single. When it comes to music style, the girls have demanded they produce hits which they want to “scream at the top of their lungs in their cars” and Blair is backing this narrative all the way.
Their manager added: “When I first started working with them, they all told me that was the music they wanted to make, and I’m really excited for them to release their first song.”
