Little Mix made history at the BRIT Awards when they became the first girl band to scoop Best British Group – but Oasis star Noel Gallagher made it very clear he didn’t support the win
Little Mix legend Jade Thirlwall didn’t shy away from shade after the iconic pop group were picked on by Oasis star Noel Gallagher after their BRIT Awards win.
In 2021, Little Mix made history by becoming the first girl band to win the Brit Award for Best British Group, a feat celebrated by fans and industry insiders alike. However, Noel was less than impressed, telling The Sun: “Little Mix, with the greatest respect, are not in the same league as Oasis. Not even in the same f****** sport.”
Jade responded to Noel’s comments during an interview with Louis Theroux, saying: “We’re very different bands, so I’ll give him that respect.” She added: “We’re a pop girl band. Yeah. I don’t know why he was comparing us, actually.”
The singer also brought the sass when she hit back at Noel’s remarks during her guest appearance on the popular comedy panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks. She told the panel: “Noel said something about that we were undeserving of the Brit Award because we’re women and don’t… well, we do write music, but he thinks we don’t write music.”
Before adding: “Yeah, shame, really. Because you know, we are the most successful girl group in the country, but he’s not even the most successful performer in his family.”
The star, who launched her solo career last year, also once told how her boyfriend, Jordan Stephens, confronted Noel at Glastonbury festival following their Brit Awards bust-up.
It resulted in a heated confrontation between the stars when Rizzle Kicks rapper and TV personality Jordan confronted Noel only to be told to “f*** off”.
Jordan told him: “You are really rude about my girlfriend. Do you want to apologise?” To which Noel replied: “F*** off!'” according to Jade, who added: “And I thought, do you know what? Fair play.”
Jade is the first Little Mix member to be nominated for her solo work this year at the BRIT Awards, with nods for Song of the Year and Pop Act. She will also be performing on the big night and showcasing pops such as Angel Of My Dreams and IT Girl.
