Phillip Schofield was caught on camera looking less than thrilled as he took the bins out this week. following his former bestie’s return to TV.
The former This Morning host, who has taken a step back from his ITV role following an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague, and a devastating family loss, appeared downcast while doing his household duties.
Spotted outside the security gates of his pad, Phil sported a vibrant turquoise Jack Wills jumper paired with relaxed blue denim, swapping his sharp ITV attire for some comfy lace-up trainers.
He was busy setting out red and blue recycling bins and rolling out his black bin, with reading glasses hanging from his shirt and a bracelet adorning his wrist, all while wearing a sombre expression before retreating back into his privacy.
His return to television hasn’t gone as hoped, considering his Channel 5 documentary Cast Away only managed to lure in 1.4 million viewers. In comparison, ITV’s concurrent airing of crime drama Joan pulled in over 2 million eyes, eclipsing Phil’s ratings—an arduous feat when considering that Phil and Holly consistently scored viewer numbers of 1.4 million during the daytime slot on This Morning, which now seems elusive for Phil in the evenings.
Heartbreakingly, Phil confessed he had “lost my best friend” after cutting communications with co-host Holly Willoughby, revealing to the BBC: “The last time we had a conversation was when I texted Holly and said, ‘Don’t reply’ – this was after the statement last week – ‘Don’t reply, you’re probably not allowed to, but I am deeply deeply sorry that I lied to you..”
But Phil couldn’t resist having a cheeky dig at Holly in Cast Away, seemingly poking fun at her famous “Firstly, are you okay?” line from This Morning during a barbecue scene with his wife and daughters. With a twinkle in his eye, Phil quipped, “If you’re okay, then we’re okay and I’m okay. Are you okay?”, reports the Express.
