Real Housewives star Teddi Mellencamp has gone in for emergency surgery after doctors found “multiple” tumours on her brain, with the star left in unbearable pain
A reality TV star who has been diagnosed with “multiple” brain tumours is facing another struggle.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp announced she was having emergency surgery to remove two tumours. Teddi, who starred on the drama-filled Bravo series with the likes of Denise Richards, had been suffering with “severe and debilitating headaches” for weeks.
She ended up in hospital this week as the pain became “unbearable” and doctors discovered several tumours on her brain. They believe the tumours have been growing for at at least six months.
However, it’s believed she’s still pressing on with her divorce from her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, despite her shocking diagnosis. The pair, who share three children, announced their split last year.
According to TMZ, the divorce is “still on” but the focus is “very much on Teddi’s health” right now. It seems they’re still on relatively good terms as Edwin still visited the star in hospital and posed for a swap with his estranged partner.
Edwin posted a snap with Teddi at the hospital and prayed for her to be okay. He wrote: “Lord, I lift up @teddimellencamp to You. You are the Great Healer, and I ask for Your healing touch upon her body. Restore her strength, renew her spirit, and let her feel Your comforting presence. Grant her peace, hope, and full recovery. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Teddi told fans on Wednesday (February 12) she was getting surgery to remove two tumours and that the remaining tumours would be dealt with “at a later date”. In a statement on Instagram, she wrote: “For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches.
“Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believed have been growing for at least 6 months. Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – the remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”
She thanked everybody for their support, adding: “I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses, and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health. Thank you everybody who has reached out, and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”
Mellencamp posted snaps from her hospital bed before the surgery – she could be seen wearing a hospital robe with devices placed on her forehead. “Counting down the minutes until my babies get here,” she wrote.
“As my dad said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be ok.”
In the next video Teddi was getting her hair shaved off by a friend, but she remained in high spirits despite the scary circumstances. “I’m going to have this look on my bucket list!,” she said before adding: “My best look!”.
Mellencamp is famed for appearing on three seasons of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from 2017 until 2020. She is also the daughter of singer John Mellencamp and hosts the Two Ts In A Pod podcast with her Real Housewives pal Tamra Judge.
In October 2022, she was diagnosed with skin cancer – stage II melanoma – which was removed. She has had around 20 surgeries to fight the cancer and was left with a large zig-zag scar across her back and shoulder.
