Rob Brydon says it’s “very hard” for him not to imitate an Indian accent when he’s at an Indian restaurant.

The actor might have a bit of spare time on his hands after he revealed he has been turned down for roles due to his “scars”. He isn’t the only actor to be snubbed though, as one soap legend admitted she didn’t get a role she’d gone for in Gavin And Stacey.

The 59-year-old actor said when he goes on tour his band will tell him to ‘stop it’ as he struggles not to mimic the ‘mellifluous and melodic’ voices of those working there.

The Gavin And Stacey star admitted he hasn’t publicly done an Indian accent for ‘a while’ because he knows that ‘you can’t’ imitate people’s voices.

Speaking on his Brydon & podcast, the comedian said he finds the accent ‘beautiful’, adding: “And if I am in an Indian restaurant, it’s very hard for me.

“Of course you can’t [mimic an accent], you know, but it’s a love letter. I love the musicality of it.

“And when I hear a beautiful sound… the Indian voice is so mellifluous and melodic and there’s something to my ear, inherently kind about it. But yeah, it’s hard for me.

“If I’m in an Indian, especially when we’re on tour – because I’m in that mode then and we go to an Indian after a show and I’m still kind of buzzing – the band are going, ‘whoa, stop it, not a word’.”

Bryson said he only does impressions to ‘people I like’ and admitted he hasn’t publicly mimicked the accent for ‘a while now’.
