Business stars of The Apprentice could risk their careers if they behave in a bad way off camera – some raunchy candidates broke show rules by having sex, insiders claimed
Tim Campbell has warned The Apprentice candidates they risk ruining their careers if they behave badly off camera.
Insiders have claimed wannabes broke show rules by having sex during filming last year. It plunged the new series into crisis before it had even started airing.
Businessman Tim, who helps Lord Sugar decide who to hire and fire, told the Daily Star Sunday: “When I employ people, I care what they do in work. That’s what you’re paid for and that’s what your contract says. But I’m also thinking, ‘Don’t embarrass me by doing something because you are connected to my brand’.
“You have to remember that reputational damage is something you need to take into consideration. I don’t think you can separate the two.”
Tim is also warning candidates to be careful about what they post on social media now they’re on TV.
He said: “All of us have to think about your digital footprint and what happens outside of work as much as what happens inside work.
“That’s part of your reputation. That’s part of your brand.”
“You have got to be empathetic to others. You may have views from a religious perspective or a lifestyle perspective that some people won’t agree with. You have to think about how you may have an impact on people.”
Irish beauty salon owner Aoibheann Walsh became the second candidate to be fired form the show by Lord Sugar.
In Thursday’s episode, Amber-Rose Badrudin headed one team and chose to create a rap duo called Fred and Nadz, while the other team led by Anisa Khan, who previously led her team to defeat in the last episode, decided to create a female pop singer called Bami.
The team which created Bami won the task, amassing £215,000 in sponsorship money for their character, despite Lord Sugar expressing disappointment they had put a one-year break clause in a £250,000 five-year deal with Alfa Romeo, meaning he felt it was only worth £50,000.
Fred and Nadz amassed £112,000 after three brands invested in the character, but Lord Sugar described it as “less Stormzy and more (Sir Keir) Starmer”.
The sacking decision was between salon firm owner Nadia Suliaman, team leader Badrudin and Walsh, with Lord Sugar and his advisers Baroness Brady and Tim Campbell eventually deciding to fire Walsh.
The Apprentice continues on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
