Ozzy Osbourne fans have been reliving the best moments of his family reality show The Osbournes after his death, and it’s all available to stream on Prime Video
In the wake of Ozzy Osbourne’s death at 76, fans have been looking back at his family’s MTV reality show, The Osbournes. Social media users have been sharing compilations of the best bits on TikTok, after Sharon shared the sad news that Ozzy had died. And while Ozzy had some wild moments in his life, much of it is nothing compared to his family’s reality show.
It aired between 2002 and 2005, running for four seasons. It’s considered to be one of the pioneering shows in the reality television landscape, with family focused shows like The Kardashians and At Home With Tyson Fury’s The Furys following in the years to come.
And all four seasons of The Osbournes are available to stream for free on Prime Video with a 30-day trial.
The show starred Ozzy, wife Sharon and two of their children Jack and Kelly. Their other daughter Aimee refused to take part in the show, and moved out of the family home when filming started.
Aimee, who has shunned a life in the spotlight, was blurred out of family photos seen in the show, or not included.
Years later, Sharon would admit regret over the situation.
She said on The Talk in 2018: “It broke my heart when she moved. She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea — it was appalling to her. And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did.”
The first episode’s opener shows fans exactly what they’ll get – chaos.
It introduces daughter Kelly screaming at her brother, saying: “Jack, stop telling people you’re Ozzy Osbourne’s son to get into places because you’re a f****** loser!”
In another clip, Sharon says: “I can’t sit here and say I’m the next Mother Theresa… f*** no!”
Finally, Ozzy appears, shouting at the camera: “Rock and roll!”
Following the success of the show, Kelly launched a short music career, while Sharon landed her own talk show in the US, The Sharon Osbourne Show.
Speaking in 2009 on BBC Radio 2, Ozzy said he was “stoned during the entire filming” of the show, so refused to watch it back.
It aired on MTV in the US, with profanity bleeped out. However in the UK, on MTV and Channel 4, it was uncensored.
