The video for Rebecca Black’s 2011 song Friday was branded “the worst song ever” – but the negative reaction hasn’t stopped her from living her best life and she now looks completely unrecognisable
Rebecca Black looks a million miles away from the girl who charm-blasted us with ‘Friday’ over a decade ago.
Her transformation from the viral teen sensation, who faced a tsunami of tears from the ‘worst song ever,’ to a tattooed style queen is absolutely gobsmacking.
With 173million views down since 2011, Rebecca has since opened up about her battle through teenage fame, confessing: “Millions of people having awareness that you exist as a teenager is really complicated, and something I didn’t really understand. And probably still don’t understand now.”
She added: “I’ve struggled a lot, as somebody who’s grown into who I am now.”
Fast-forward 14 years and the star couldn’t be further from the bus stop schoolgirl we all remember – she’s now flaunting edgy vibes in knee-high boots and wrist chains to her adoring 1million Insta fans.
With her new mage, she’s been smashing it as a DJ and performer. Her debut album ‘Let Her Burn’ in February 2023 and it was been met with rave reviews. Alongside her busy touring schedule, she has also carved out a new career as an influencer.
Chatting to NPR that without the attention that Friday brought, she wouldn’t be the performer she is now, adding: “I think that the actual best thing that came out of it was it put me to the place that I am now.”
She added: “I guess I don’t know if I would be the same person – I definitely wouldn’t be the same person I am now if that had never happened to me.”
And get this – she might have found someone special too. In 2020, she opened up about her sexuality on the Dating Straight podcast, saying: “To me the word ‘queer’ feels really nice.”
She shared: “I’ve dated a lot of different types of people and I just don’t really know what the future holds. Some days I feel a little more on the gay side than others.”
In 2023, she revealed she’s dating a music producer who’s who was a few years older than her, but there has been little update since.
