Sometimes an X Factor audition makes history for very awkward reasons and one such star looks unrecognisable from her five minutes of fame as she’s pictured now, 18 years after audition
An X Factor icon has wowed fans with her unrecognisable transformation, some 18 years after the audition which saw Simon Cowell brand her “vile.”
Rachel Lester famously appeared on the show back in 2007 series, and she raised eyebrows when she proudly declared she did “nothing” for work because she was “lazy at the moment.” While Simon might not have been a fan, the viewers at home loved her.
An Instagram account called The Archbishop of Banterbury has recently shared a recent photo of Rachel. Fans quickly rushed to the comment section to quote their favourite comments from her audition.
She told the camera at the time: “I’ve got The X Factor because I am a natural talent. At the end of the day, I deserve it.”
She insisted: “I’m just too goddamn good,” before entering the room for her audition. Sharon Osbourne then asked Rachel what she did for a living, to which she replied: “Nothing, I’m lazy at the moment.”
A taken aback Sharon asked: “Do you ever sing professionally?” to which she replied: “Of course, I’ve been singing all my life, all around the towns and everything.”
She then sang her song, insisting her performance was a ten out of ten, and that she was a better singer than Madonna. An appalled Simon didn’t hold back, saying Rachel was “vile”.
He dubbed her performance “the worst” and said the audition was “Everything I wouldn’t want, lazy, deluded, very little talent”.
Rachel was less than impressed with the judge’s feedback, and slammed their criticism saying crudely they could “lick each other’s f****** a****, all to get where you want to f****** be.”
Clips of her audition still go viral regularly on TikTok with social media users lip-synching to the sound. Sharon even recreated the moment with a fan at one of Taylor Swift’s concerts, as she recreated her role as a judge.
One Instagram commenter joked: “The irony of Simon Cowell listing his own personality traits.” Another added: “What do you do for a living? Nothing, I’m lazy atm. Gwan gal!”
“Omgeeeee love her!” praised another, while one called her an icon. “Is she still lazy at the moment?” asked one.
