Gordon Ramsay reportedly aimed a dig at Adam Peaty’s parents during the celebrity chef’s wedding speech as his daughter Holly married the Olympic swimmer. The couple exchanged vows on Saturday amid an ongoing family feud with most of Adam’s family uninvited.
While the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, and TV stars Dan Walker and Sara Davies were in attendance, Adam’s sister Bethany was the sole Peaty family representative at the ceremony, where she was a bridesmaid.
The rift allegedly exploded after Adam’s mum Caroline was excluded from the hen party. It was claimed that his dad Mark was invited at the last minute, but was told he would have to sit at the back.
Holly’s dad Gordon is said to have delivered a fiery speech during the celebrations, which included a pointed jab at Adam’s missing parents as he said his wife Tana “will be a good mum to them both”, according to The Sun.
In what the outlet described as an ‘explosive’ speech, Gordon began by saying Adam was a ‘fortunate man’, adding: “Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.”
He then appeared to take a swipe at Adam’s parents as he said to daughter Holly: “Shame you don’t have the same”.
Caroline, 60, spoke publicly before the wedding, telling the Mail: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.”
“This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken. Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on… because of the wedding.”
After Gordon’s address, a family insider lashed out, claiming it was Ramsay’s ‘plan all along’.
The Sun quoted the source saying: “It just goes to show that this was the Ramsays’ plan all along. You’d think that as parents, Gordon and Tana would have a bit more compassion towards Caroline, Mark and the family.
“Caroline did everything and more to help Adam. She and Mark sacrificed a lot to get him where he is. Adam ought to be ashamed of himself for going ahead with the wedding without them after everything they did to support him. Beth has betrayed her mum to see what she can get out of being the only family member who gets on with Adam and Holly.
“This isn’t the Bethany we all know, she’s changed her appearance and personality to fit in with the Ramsays’ celebrity lifestyle.”
Caroline previously told the Daily Mail she believed it was “the end” of her relationship with her son, adding: “But please, the message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.
“There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don’t wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage, like your dad and me. The reason I’m speaking out is I want all this to end.”
