Miffy Englefield, who played Sophie in beloved festive film The Holiday, is now 26 and a mum. The former star has opened up about receiving inappropriate messages and spoken about the cast including Jude Law and Kate Winslet
Countless viewers are currently indulging in the Christmas cinema favourite The Holiday. It’s hard to fathom that a staggering 19 years have passed since this beloved film first hit screens. This means every young actor from the movie has since matured into adulthood, including Miffy Englefield, who portrayed Sophie – one of Jude Law’s daughters in the romantic comedy.
Miffy has revealed online that she’s become a mum herself, though she admits to feeling unsettled by “gross old men” who tell her that she’s still “cute”. The 26-year-old, from Littlehampton, West Sussex, gave birth to her daughter Frankie on April 23, 2020.
At merely six years old, Miffy landed the part of Sophie in The Holiday, appearing alongside Jude, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Emma Pritchard, who played her on-screen sister.
In a TikTok video shared on her @miffz_ account, she said: “When gross old men say things like ‘I’m so glad you are still as cute as you were in The Holiday’ to me.”
She added: “Relating how I looked as a child to how I look as a grown a** woman makes me all kinds of creeped out idk.”
The movie, which has been hailed as the ‘best Christmas fi;m of all time’, tells the story of Amanda, played by Cameron, who finds herself falling for the charming Graham, portrayed by Jude.
She’s later taken aback to discover he’s the father to Sophie and Emma, after initially suspecting him of infidelity.
Reflecting on her time filming the film, Miffy previously told Fabulous: “It was amazing being in it. Every time it is on telly – and it is a lot – I crack up. It’s on Netflix now too.
“[My partner] finds it incredibly amusing. He tells everyone. We watched it together but to be honest it makes me want to rip my eyes out. It’s so embarrassing.”
Talking about her experience working with Jude, she disclosed: “Jude had so much time for us.
“He was always giving me tips about acting. We would sit and do tongue twisters with him between takes.
“Go back about 10 years when he was in Alfie and yes, to be honest,I probably do fancy him.
“But no, I don’t fancy him in The Holiday – that would be really weird. He played me dad!”.
In a separate TikTok clip, Miffy also addressed fan questions regarding her part in The Holiday.
She began by sharing her thoughts on The Holiday cast, calling them “amazing”.
She continued: “It sounds really cliche but there’s not much to tell because they were all so lovely.”
Miffy elaborated: “Obviously playing one of Jude Law’s daughters in the film, he’s the person that we spent most time with and he was so kind and so patient and just so helpful and told us so much stuff about acting, he was lovely.
“But all the cast were so sweet. Jack Black is hilarious and Kate Winslet is just as ethereal as she might seem. Then Cameron Diaz is pretty much self-explanatory… she’s beautiful.”
When asked if she’d ever consider returning to acting, Miffy enthusiastically responded that she “100% would”, adding: “I’d love to read for a part again, I’d love to audition again. I don’t know if I’m any good at it anymore, but I don’t really think a lot of casting directors are looking for many people with my look.
“I have quite a lot of tattoos now and I have a few body mods so, if there was a casting director who wanted someone like me to read for a part, hit me up. I’d love to.”
In addition to The Holiday, Miffy also made an appearance in one episode of the TV series The Whistleblowers in 2007 and featured in 12 episodes of Casualty as Amelia Anderson between 2008-2012.
