Amber Heard appeared on a US chat show with “two black eyes” the night after she was allegedly assaulted by ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The American actress claimed she was slapped and pulled up the stairs by the Pirates of the Caribbean star during a furious bust-up at their LA apartment in 2015.
Depp, 57, has admitted to headbutting his former spouse at their penthouse but claimed it was “accidental” when he took to the stand at the High Court.
The court was told today how Heard, 34, appeared on James Corden’s Late Late Show the night after the alleged incident on December 16 2015.
Heard allegedly told her stylist Samantha McMillen after her television appearance: “Can you believe I just did that show with two black eyes?”

The Hollywood stylist took to the stand today in the libel case, claiming she had not seen Heard with any visible marks on her body or face.
In a witness statement to the court, Ms McMillen said: “I saw her throughout the day, in good light, at close range, wearing no makeup.
“Throughout the day, I could see clearly that Amber did not have any visible marks, bruises, cuts, or injuries to her face or any other part of her body.
“After the show, Ms Heard said to me, ‘Can you believe I just did that show with two black eyes?’ But she did not have any black eyes, and had been visibly uninjured throughout the day and at that moment.

“I later learned that Ms Heard had accused Johnny Depp of violently abusing her the previous night.”
Ms McMillen said that she had been “confused” by the actress’ comments about the bruises saying: “I didn’t see the black eyes, but also I don’t want to, you know, raise any sort of – I just wanted to go home.”
The stylist said she later overheard Heard tell a friend: “Make sure to get those pictures on to my computer,” but she did not know what images the actress was referring to.
Sasha Wass QC, representing News Group Newspapers, later referred to a message sent by Heard in December 2015 which read: “Johnny did a number on me last night.”

“Did Ms Heard ever say to you that Johnny ‘did a number on her?’,” the barrister asked Ms McMillen.
She replied: “She never said anything about that to me.”
Ms McMillen later admitted she was loyal to Depp saying: “I’m loyal because he is kind and loyal back, but not for any other reason than that.”
The stylist was then questioned about an email sent by Heard to her publicist, Jodi Gottlieb, in the early hours of December 16 which read: “I’m really bruised or might have a black eye or two tomorrow.

“I might not be fit for tomorrow but I won’t know how bad the bruise is until the morning.”
And she said she couldn’t think of a reason why Heard would have sent the email if she didn’t have any injuries.
Ms McMillen also said she didn’t recall any conversation with Heard’s make-up artist, Melanie Inglessis, that she was “going to put a real bright red lipstick on Ms Heard to try and cover the mark on her lip”.
Depp has claimed Heard faked the injuries as part of an “insurance dossier” against him.

The actor allegedly threw a decanter at his ex wife, slapped her face and dragged her through the apartment by her hair during a violent assault at the penthouse shared by the couple on December 15 2015.
He was said to have taken “large chunks of hair and scalp” out of Heard’s head as he pulled his former spouse up the stairs while threatening to kill her.
As the blonde actress tried to escape the alleged attack, Depp is said to have hit her in the back of the head and knocked her to the floor.
As Heard staggered back up to her feet, it was claimed, Depp screamed: “Oh, you think you’re a f***ing tough guy?,” before headbutting the actress in her face.

Depp then allegedly threw Heard on to the bed and knelt on her back while repeatedly punching her in her head, screaming: “I f***ing hate you,” over and over again.
It was claimed that Heard suffered severe headaches and other pains for at least a week after the attack.
Later, the actor allegedly wrote a message on their kitchen countertop in gold pen, which read: “Why be a fraud? All is such bulls***.”
Depp told the court: “I was not violent toward Ms Heard in any way.

“In fact, on this date, Ms Heard violently attacked me, as she had done many times before, leaving me with a number of scratches and swelling around my face.
“Ms Heard has fabricated these allegations, including falsely claiming that the blond hair on the floor was her hair that had been pulled out by me.
“I remember this period as one in which Ms Heard was continually trying to argue with me and at times would physically assault me.
“If Ms Heard had actually been assaulted in the way she described, she would have had very severe and visible injuries. There is no evidence whatsoever of this having been the case.”
Depp’s brought the libel case against News Group Newspapers’ The Sun and executive editor Dan Wootton after an article was published in April 2018 with the headline: “Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?”.
NGN is defending the article as true and says Depp was controlling and verbally and physically abusive towards Heard, particularly when he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” between early 2013 and May 2016, when the couple split.
Johnny Depp met Amber Heard in 2011 and began living together in 2012 before tying the knot in LA in February 2015.
