Piers Morgan slams 'vile' Trump and Biden debate after befriending President

Piers Morgan has once again not held back on his opinions on his former pal President Donald Trump.

The first 2020 presidential debate debate was held on Tuesday night and broadcast to the world and already the Good Morning Britain host has shared his thoughts in his Daily Mail column.

The 55-year-old described the debate as a “horror” and even dubbed Trump as “vile” in the headline of the rant.

Piers recalled how he got up at 2am on Wednesday to watch it as he lives in the UK but said it was the “most embarrassing and unedifying spectacle in the history of modern American politics”.

He also went on to say that Trump’s debate tactics were “barbaric” and “repellent” and that the president “basically brought his Twitter game to the debate”.

Piers wrote: “The President basically brought his Twitter game to the debate – a relentless bombastic bombardment of abuse, personal jibes, self-justifying tripe and blatant falsehoods.

“In the worst of many awful moments, he refused to condemn white supremacists, and when specifically challenged about the Proud Boys, a vile racist homophobic transphobic misogynist group of violent bigots, he replied: ‘Proud Boys, stand back and stand by!'”

Piers also slammed Trump for poking fun at Biden for wearing a face mask amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

He wrote: “The President even mocked Biden for wearing face masks to ward off Covid-19, as if somehow that is something a responsible citizen should be ridiculed for doing when over 200,000 Americans have already died from the virus.

“I wish I could say any of this abhorrent conduct shocked me.

“But it was just Trump being Trump, albeit at his most bestial and in a manner that made even his own team uncomfortable.”

Trump and Piers came to blows over the topic of coronavirus previously when the president unfollowed the journalist on Twitter over their different views.

In April, Trump suggested at a press briefing that people suffering from Covid-19 could inject themselves with household disinfectant — a concept that Piers dubbed “bats*** crazy”.

Shortly after Piers called Trump out, the President of the United States of America unfollowed him on Twitter.
