Piers Morgan shares cryptic clock hint minutes before GMB exit announced

Just moments before ITV dropped a bombshell statement revealing Piers Morgan has quit Good Morning Britain he shared a very cryptic tweet.

Minutes before the UK commercial TV channel published its statement Piers took to his own Twitter account to share a cryptic gif with his 7.7 million followers.

At 6.13pm today (March 9) Piers tweeted just a black and white gif of an old-fashioned clock swinging backwards and forwards.

Written across it read: “Tick tock…”

Within minutes ITV then dropped the following statement revealing that the TV host had decided to quite the show.

The statement read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

And just an hour before ITV’s statement, Ofcom dropped a statement revealing it had received over 41,000 complaints about comments made by Piers Morgan on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

Today an Ofcom spokesperson took to its official Twitter account to confirm it is “investigating” Monday’s episode of GMB.

The statement read: “We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.

“As of 14:00 on Tuesday 9 March, we have received 41,015 complaints about the programme.”

Within the hour, ITV confirmed Piers has quit the show but the star is yet to speak out himself.

The complaints came after Piers made controversial comments about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

During Monday’s episode of GMB Piers launched into an angry tirade against the Royal couple, declaring he was “sickened” by what he’d heard during the interview.

The GMB star then referred to a moment in the interview when Meghan claimed a member of the Royal family expressed concerns about the colour of their son Archie’s skin.

Meghan told Oprah: “All around this same time, we have in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title and also concerns and conversations as how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Harry confirmed such a conversation had taken place, adding: “That conversation I’m never going to share but at the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

However, Piers accused the couple of trying to make the Royal family out as “white supremacists” during his GMB rant.

He said: “They trash everybody. They basically make out the entire Royal family are a bunch of white supremacists by dropping this race bombshell.”

People argued that it was strange Piers was more upset about that than using his journalistic skills to investigate it.
