Piers Morgan GMB petitions reach 360,000 signatures as fans beg for his return

Fans are clamouring for the reinstatement of Piers Morgan following his fiery exit from the programme earlier in March.

Petitions to see him return to Good Morning Britain have now reached a whopping 360,000 signatures.

Five petitions are currently circulating to see the presenter returned to his usual spot – the most popular of which has been signed by more than 156,000 people.

The change.org petition has been titled “Keep Piers Morgan on GMB for his common sense approach to life”.

Started by Margaret Lowry, the petition summary says: “Keep Piers Morgan for his common sense approach to life. He’s also funny!! He’s not afraid to speak out and says what a lot of us are thinking.”

The petition was actually started a year ago, when Piers was facing controversy for his “common sense” attitude.

But signatures have been piling up since his sensational exit.

However, despite the “pleasant surprise” of fans begging for his return, Piers has ruled out a return to the show.

He is, however, maintaining a good relationship with ITV, having returned for his interview with Coleen Nolan for Piers Morgans’ Life Stories last week.

At the time, he tweeted: “Reports of my ITV demise have been greatly exaggerated… I’m back already.”

His sudden departure from GMB came two weeks ago after casting aspersions on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their Oprah interview.

On March 9 he publicly aired his doubts over Meghan’s claims she had suffered from suicidal thoughts.

After a savage clash with weatherman Alex Beresford, Piers furiously stormed off set.

Piers is notorious for his controversial views

The programme has since received the highest number of Ofcom complains ever, with the total reaching above 57,000.

He confirmed that evening that he would no longer be a presenter on GMB, though he said that conversations with ITV had been “amicable”.

Piers told reporters: “I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.

“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.

“If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it.

“I think it’s fair to say, although the woke crowd will think that they’ve cancelled me, I think they will be rather disappointed when I re-emerge.

Commenters on various petitions are up in arms about his exit.

One posted: “His job is to provoke thought and comment – he is also entitled to his opinion, doesn’t mean he’s right, but he must be allowed to express his opinion. Mistake to lose him.”

Another said: “Piers Morgan is great, he speaks his mind and often says what others think but are too scared to say.”

And one fan commented: “Come back Piers, it’s not the same without you fella…”
