Naga Munchetty has announced that she’s taking on an exciting new role away from BBC Breakfast.
The presenter, 45, normally hosts BBC Breakfast from Thursday to Saturday on BBC One alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt.
She also fronts her own radio show on Radio 5 Live, where she chats to her listeners about current affairs.
However, she’s now joined a new team of famous broadcasters to present the latest editions of the BBC Newscast – a daily news podcast on BBC Sounds.
Naga will join a star-studded line-up of fellow BBC presenters which includes Victoria Derbyshire, Laura Kuenssberg and Chris Mason.
Naga will host the BBC Sounds show over the next six days, taking turns with the other stars.
Taking to Twitter, Naga retweeted the exciting announcement from the BBC Sounds account.
The BBC team tweeted: “Introducing your #BBCNewscast special guest presenter line up for the next six days:
“Monday: @TVNaga01, Tuesday: @VicDerbyshire, Wednesday: @ChrisMasonBBC, Thursday: @BBCLauraK and @ChrisMasonBBC, Friday: @VicDerbyshire, Monday: @TVNaga01”
Naga’s fans were delighted for her, with one follower commenting: “Great line up.”
A second wrote: “More Naga please.”
A third agreed: “Brilliant line up”.
A fourth was worried that it might affect their other jobs, adding: “That is quite a line up, hope your not taking time from your day jobs though guys”
It comes after Naga recently took a break from hosting BBC Breakfast.
Munchetty was absent from a number of broadcasts as other presenters such as business reporter Nina Warhurst and Sally Nugent filled in for her on the sofa.
She also suffered a violent coughing fit live on her BBC Radio 5 show recently, which left fans worried about her health.
The presenter’s cough was so bad that it forced Naga to come off air and fetch some water whilst playing a pre-recorded segment, leading her listeners to ask if she was okay.
However, Naga reassured her 260,000 followers on Twitter that she had just been battling a cold, and she’s since returned to her Radio 5 show.
