Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Helen Flanagan has claimed bosses of the show pushed her off a high platform after she refused to jump herself.
The plan was for Helen to zip wire herself off the platform and over the jungle canopy as her entrance into the Australian jungle but her fear got the better of her.
Helen, who played Rosie Webster on the hit ITV soap Coronation Street, has revealed that after she was unable to jump from the ledge herself, she was pushed.
Footage of her being pushed from the platform did not air on the episode.
In the 12th series of the much-loved ITV reality show Helen placed seventh whilst EastEnders star Charlie Brooks became Queen of the Jungle.
Actress Helen told The Sun: “I’m terrified of heights, and when I entered the jungle it was like Go Ape, but times 100.
“I was terrified. And they never showed this but I had to be pushed.
“I think my nerves had gone before I even arrived. It wasn’t for me.”
On the Never Fully Dressed podcast, she said: “When I look back — it was an experience. I don’t regret any of it.
“I loved the social aspects of it, but it was not for me. I really didn’t know what I was letting myself in for. I’d only watched one show.”
Last year’s third place celebrity on the show, Vernon Kay, has reportedly asked bosses to make the experience “more horrible” for 2021.
Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire on BBC’s Newscast he said he thinks the show will be “more gruelling” whilst Victoria added she expects the bosses will “upscale some of the trials”.
The line-up of celebrities entering the castle will be announced over the next few weeks, ahead of the launch of the 2021 series next month.
Rumours so far include EastEnders stars Adam Woodyatt and Jake Wood as well as Love Island’s Maura Higgins, and GMB’s Richard Madeley.
I’m A Celeb returns to ITV in November
