Holly Willoughby missing from This Morning as Josie Gibson steps in to replace her

Holly Willoughby called in sick to This Morning just one hour before the show went live on air and has been replaced by Josie Gibson – which her “witchy” friend had predicted.

The 40-year-old is believed to be suffering from a stomach bug and was forced to pull out of the show at the last minute.

Luckily competition host Josie was on standby ready to fill in for her after the blonde bombshell was told to expect the call from the studio last night.

As viewers tuned in for their latest instalment of This Morning, Phillip Schofield welcomed the 36-year-old onto the sofa for the very first time.

Prior to her TV stint, the mum-of-one confessed she received a call from fellow This Morning viewer Margaret who appeared on the show to share her struggles with loneliness during lockdown last year.

She told viewers: “I don’t know if you’ll remember Margaret. We went out and had a walk with her because she was ever so lonely.

“Ever since I always check in on her and give her a ring to see how she is. Last night I phoned her. She’s such a character, she’s such a beautiful soul.

She went on: “I give her a call and she said, ‘Josie you know I’m quite spiritual, you’re going to get a call and you’re going to be presenting This Morning’.

“She said, ‘I’m a little bit witchy and I’ve got this sixth sense that you’re going to present this morning’.

“I laughed like a drain. That was last night – and this morning I had the phone call.”

Shocked at her surprising story, Phillip added: “What an unbelievable coincidence. That’s second sight that’s for sure. “

The blonde belle couldn’t help but gush over the long-serving TV host, and added: “I cannot believe I’m sat here. It’s so surreal, I’ve grown up watching you. What an honour. It’s crazy.”

Phillip went on to explain the reason behind Holly’s absence to concerned viewers at home, stating: “Holly is not here today because she’s got a tummy bug. Nothing more than that. She’ll probably be back tomorrow.”

As Josie joked: “I thought they’d got the wrong number,” clearly still surprised she was presenting the show.
