Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts has opened up about a hospital trip caused by stress and left doctors thinking she had a brain aneurysm.
Ashley, now 40, was once rushed to hospital for an MRI scan after her body seemed to ‘shut down’ due to being overworked. She went in for the scan and contracted viral arthritis afterwards.
Speaking to The Sun, Ashley confessed that she had a lot on her plate during the most successful period for the girl group.
She said: “The thing was, being in a girl band, we make people a lot of money so there was, the schedule was outrageous. I’m not going to lie, by the end I was breaking down. I was in the hospital.”
“They thought I was having a brain aneurysm. I think it was just from going, going, going and my body was just shutting down really.”
“As I was walking to get the MRI because they thought I was having a brain aneurysm, my knee locked up and I got this viral arthritis so I couldn’t bend my knee. The doctor was like, ‘I think you need to just rest’. It’s wild,” concluded the star.
Ashley was in the Pussycat Dolls from 2003 alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kimberly Wyatt.
The band split in 2010 but regrouped in 2019 and were due to tour the world because Nicole had a disagreement with Robin Antin, the group’s founder, and Ashley has spoken about how the split made her feel.
She told the publication: “We were on the road for eight years pretty much solid and then spat out the other end and I was like, ‘Who am I without this identity in the group?’”
Ashley explained that she started to do yoga and taking acting classes to try and figure out who she was after spending years feeling burnt out.
Ashley currently presents on Heart radio and lives in London, a place that has stolen her heart. The dancer has previously said that she doesn’t miss the US and has no plans on returning any time soon.
Fans get a daily dose of Ashley with her pal and co-worker Amanda Holden, with the duo often twinning it up with their stunning outfits and TikTok videos.
