Abi Franklin’s marriage hasn’t had the best of starts since she tied the knot to her long-term partner Kevin in Coronation Street.
And with the unexpected arrival of her baby, things appear to be going from bad to worst for the mechanic as she tries to fight to save her son from the clutches of the legal system.
Next week, Coronation Street spoilers has revealed that as Toyah Battersby arrives at the courtroom to show her support both Imran Habeeb and Abi are awash with guilt.
The local authority solicitor who is looking after Abi’s case lists a host of reasons proving Abi to be an unfit mother and why Alfie should be taken into care.
Lawyer Imran pleads Abi’s case, doing everything in his power to convince the Judge that Abi has changed her ways and will be able to look after her son. But will the verdict go Abi’s way?
Toyah later suggests to Imran that he’s done the best he can for Abi and it’s time to step back and concentrate on Elsie’s adoption hearing.
Imran tries his best to cover his turmoil, while Abi is left reeling.
When Abi bans Imran from seeing Alfie, he quickly declares he’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means putting his name on the birth certificate to save him.
Is it time for Imran to come clean to Toyah about baby Alfie and his involvement in his life?
On Friday’s episode, Imran tells a pleased Toyah that he has set Abi up with a solicitor free of charge before secretly heading off with Abi to register Alfie’s birth with her.
But later on, Toyah bumps into Abi and sees her carrying a package (Alfie’s paperwork) and acting strangely.
Due to Abi’s shifty behaviour, Toyah she assumes she is back on drugs and warns Kevin who hunts for the package whilst Abi is busy making tea.
But Kevin is left bewildered when he discovers the birth certificate stating Imran is Alfie’s father. How will he react to the unexpected news?
A while later, Toyah and Imran sit down with the social worker to discuss adopting Elsie but it looks like Imran’s world may soon be shaken.
