Educating Yorkshire star unrecognisable as he graduates from uni nine years after show

Educating Yorkshire star Musharaf wowed the nation with his emotional assembly speech, but he looks dramatically different these days.

Musharaf, 25, shot to fame on the Channel 4 education show in 2013, and he famously worked to overcome his stammer by standing up in assembly and delivering a speech in front of his school peers.

Now, almost a decade after the show aired, he’s all grown up and has graduated from university.

Proud Musharaf, also known as Mushy, shared a snap of him standing in his graduation robes at the University of Huddersfield.

The TV star has since matured into a handsome man – and he’s even sporting a beard.

Speaking to his followers, Mushy revealed he was ‘so proud’ of his achievements and thanked his teachers for changing his life.

He wrote: “From sitting in the classroom and contemplating if life would ever accept me for having a stammer, to going to university and graduating.

“I can’t sum up in words how proud I am and how much my teachers’ changed my life.

“You can truly achieve anything you put your mind to!”

A man of many talents, Mushy hasn’t just been hitting the books at uni as he also works as a journalist and public speaker.

His YouTube channel Mushyasghar, where he posts videos of him talking about living with a stammer, boasts over 10k subscribers.

Seeing Mushy’s achievement, followers flocked to congratulate the star.

One wrote: “This post is wonderful. Congratulations you awesome young man.”

A second said: “My daughter had a severe stammer for many years, she is also a very intelligent young lady, so your graduation is another clear sign that disabilities don’t define people. Congratulations and WELL DONE.”

A third commented: “I remember watching the programme where you were the star and crying happy tears.”

Another added: “Congratulations! I watched you on TV all those years ago and wept with happiness at your achievement then.

“You are an inspiration.”
