Michelle Keegan's Coronation Street co-star joins cast of Sky comedy Brassic

Former Coronation Street star Greg Wood is set to make his TV comeback alongside his former soap co-star Michelle Keegan.

The small screen star – best known as Rick Neelan in the hit ITV soap – has signed up to star in Sky comedy Brassic.

Greg, 43, will join season four of the show in the role of Barry McDonagh, a member of a new arrival family on the series.

The role will be his first since Rick was murdered by Gary Windass back in early 2019.

The villainous loan shark made an appearance on the show this week when his decaying body was discovered.

The scenes saw Rick’s ex-wife Laura confess to the murder in an attempt to save Gary, as she asked him to take legal guardianship of her daughter with Rick, Kelly.

Laura – who is dying of cancer on the soap and set to succumb to her illness in upcoming episodes – broke down in tears as she was arrested and charged.

Gary killed Rick in self defence in brutal fight scenes which aired as the culmination of months of threats and abuse against his girlfriend and her family.

Gary hid his crime for a year, but things slowly started to come to the surface.

Meanwhile Michelle, 34, previously admitted that she banned her family from watching some of her raunchy scenes in Brassic, which debuted in 2019.

The 34-year-old actress – who plays Erin in the show – was seen orgasming as she straddled on-screen boyfriend Dylan in the opening minutes of the latest series, screaming “I’m c***ing” while gyrating on top of him.

As he complained that he hadn’t finished yet, she then hit back quipping: “You can finish on my t*ts.”

During an interview with the Radio Times Michelle said: “That first episode, I didn’t let my family watch until 15 minutes in, and we all know why!

“I did a family message to everyone when that episode first came out saying ‘it starts now at quarter past, so please don’t put the TV on before then, I’m not going to explain why but don’t’ and they promised me that they didn’t.”
