Ellen DeGeneres has come under fire after throwing a fake spider at Kim Kardashian, who has a fear of arachnids, as a prank – causing her to walk off set
Kim appeared on The Ellen Show this week and the pair discussed what things spooked them out.
The presenter then unveiled a terrarium, which appears to contain a huge spider inside, and asks Kim ‘what if I hold it’, causing the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star to walk off set.
Outraged viewers rushed to social media to slam Ellen for her insensitive prank.
One said: “Wow. Way to respect her boundaries. Respect to Kim for walking out,” one Instagram user wrote. “That’s so mean.

Another commented: “Ellen you don’t know how scary this [is] for someone who has a phobia.”
A third added:“Not cool to provoke someone when you know they have a real phobia. Ellen once again has no respect for boundaries. No means no. Why make people uncomfortable?”
A fourth said: “That is rude. I would have left too. She said stop and no how many times! Ellen knew her fear beforehand and didn’t respect that nor her attempt at stopping her. UNCOOL.”
“Go Kim! I’d have done the same exact thing. Respect people’s boundaries,” commented another. “‘I don’t care to get over my fear’ says it all. She composed herself and waved graciously. Well done, Kim!”.

During the interview after Ellen started to discuss things that spook her out, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star started to look around suspiciously, apparently wary of Ellen scaring her.
“I’m not gonna scare you,” Ellen said.
“But I do wanna help you get over something because you’re scared—”
Kim buts in: “No! No, no, no.”
“You’re scared of spiders,” Ellen continues. Kim says, “No, we’re not. We’re absolutely not. You’re not doing this to me. I’m never gonna get over it.”

“It’s not loose. It’s not a loose spider,” Ellen says as she unveils a terrarium, which appears to contain a huge spider inside, to gasps from the audience.
Kim then leapt out of her seat and screamed: “No! No, we’ve been through this before. I don’t care — I don’t care to get over my fear. I don’t care.”
Despite Kim’s reaction, Ellen continues to push her, saying: “What if I hold it?”
“Absolutely not,” Kim said
“What if I just hold it?!” Ellen asks, then Kim repeats: “No, no, no.”
Ellen then throws the apparent spider at Kim, who runs off set as she yells “STOP,” “Stop.”
The host then laughed as she revealed: “It’s not real!”
