Maxwell Thorpe and Jamie Leahey are the first two acts to make it through to the Britain’s Got Talent 2022 final.
The first semi-final show on Monday (May 30) evening saw the first round of contestants take centre stage.
Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were all on hand to offer their verdict and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly kept an eye on proceedings.
Sheffield busker Maxwell received the most public votes and the judges had to decide to give the second spot to ventriloquism act Jamie or magician Junwoo.
Clearly torn with who they believed deserved a place in the final show, the vote went back in the hands of the viewers.
Receiving the most votes from the public Jamie managed to edge his way through to the final show on Sunday night.
Jumping on Twitter, fans shared their thoughts on the first pair of finalists with many congratulating them.
One person wrote: “Very happy with the two in the final so far! Thoroughly deserved!”
Meanwhile another said: “Maxwell Thorpe is an absolute dream for the eyes and ears.”
A third added: “Happy for both finalists tonight on @BGT- young North West lad with his chicken and a busker from Sheffield.”

However, although some viewers were happy, many others were not pleased with the result.
BGT viewers who were impressed with an act called The Witches were hoping that they made it through to the finals but unfortunately they didn’t.
Fans at home were quick to blame the judges for The Witches result and said their distractions aided in the loss of their final place slot.
Taking to Twitter again, disappointed spectators shared their thoughts on the spooky act.

One person said: “First disappointment of the series.. how did The Witch not get through?! Sorry but him and Jamie should have gone through.”
Meanwhile another chimed: I”‘m sorry but the Audacity of the judges tonight during #TheWitches #BGT #BritainsGotTalent Absolutely ruined that act they did. The Witches need to be bought back and re-do another act to make up for what the judges ruined.”
After a year away from screens due to the coronavirus pandemic, ITV’s popular reality show returned in April.
However, viewers were often left questioning the authenticity of the contestants on this year’s series as some were already established artists or considered professional before they came onto the show.

Following an investigation made by The Sun, the publication found that sixty acts who made it through to the semi-finals had already appeared on a Got Talent show, had links to Simon Cowell and other BGT talent or were considered as “professional” in their field.
Discussing the matter further a BGT spokesperson said: “All acts enter the competition with the hope of elevating their career to the highest level and help to reach massive new audiences which Britain’s Got Talent brings in.
“As we’re all aware, the pandemic affected so many lives, particularly those that work in the entertainment industry, and it is wrong to deny these people the opportunity to showcase their talents and entertain the nation, and ultimately perform in front of royalty at the Royal Variety Performance.
“As has always been the case, Britain’s Got Talent is open to everyone.”
