Tipping Point fans fume as ITV quiz show returns to old format leaving viewers confused

Tipping Point viewers were left scratching their heads after the latest episode as it seemed to follow an old format.

The ITV show, hosted by Ben Shephard, previously welcomed four contestants each episode but recently only featured three players.

However, during Monday’s (May 30) episode, the show mysteriously went back to four contestants.

Punters answer general knowledge questions to win giant counters that are then used in an arcade-style machine to win the grand prize of £10,000.

The format was not resonating well with viewers so another was added – but fans were befuddled and thought they were watching a repeat.

However, according to TV listings, it was a new episode.

One fan wrote: “WTF. Four!! Is it old?” to which another replied: “Sky planner says it’s a new episode. I’m confused?”

A third fan was so thrilled about the four contestants they had to tweet about it.

They said: “You don’t know how happy I am that there are four contestants.”

Offering viewers an answer, one wily fan informed people that “they don’t show the shows in sequence, that’s why we’re back to the four.”

Meanwhile, fans have begged ITV to “make the questions harder” after a “stupid” maths conundrum infuriated viewers during Friday’s show (May 27).

A penalty pot question in the first round, host Ben asked: “What number must be added to ten to make a total of 16?” Wow.

It seems viewers prefer the old four-contestant format

One enraged viewer wrote: “Can the producers please work on making the questions harder?”

Another commented: “What a stupid penalty pot question, come on ITV.”

A third viewer sarcastically quipped: “Next week’s questions include, ‘when blinking your eye closed, what happens next?’”

Tipping Point airs at 4pm on weekdays on ITV
