Fleetwood Mac star dies after cancer battle leaving fans heartbroken

Brett Tuggle, a keyboardist for legendary band Fleetwood Mac has died aged 70, it has been confirmed.

The musician who played alongside Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks had been battling cancer before his heartbreaking death.

Brett toured with the group between 1997 and 2018 before announcing his departure to play with Lindsey Buckingham who was fired from the group following a disagreement over touring.

His devastating death was confirmed on Twitter by fellow rockstar Rick Springfield who was a close friend of Brett’s.

He said: “Our sweet Brett Tuggle made it home tonight. God bless his beautiful spirit,” alongside a string od snaps of the pair over the years.

Following the news fans have flocked to social media to share their condolences, with one penning: “Brett was an unsung hero in so many HUGE bands: Rick, David Lee Roth, Fleetwood Mac. He was a stellar human. He personally responded to a fan email I sent him years ago about his big contributions to all these bands. So sad. Condolences to his family and friends.”

“So sorry for the loss of Brett Tuggle. Know you were close friends. Heartfelt condolences to you, & Brett’s family,” commented a second.

Before a third typed: “Brett Tuggle. He’s probably played with someone whose music you love. A lot. A total glue guy. I’ve appreciated him for decades and miss him already. Deepest condolences to his friends, family and fellow musicians.”

“Sad to hear the passing of Brett Tuggle. You were an amazing musician, a friendly dude & an amazing human. Always a smile & sparkle in your eye. I didn’t think Dec would be the last I would see you jamming away. The years have been beautiful to see you on tour. You’ll be missed,” added a fourth.

The musician is survived by his children, Matt and Michelle, with Matt telling Rolling Stone magazine: “He was loved by his family so much.

“His family was with him throughout the entire time of his illness. He was a lovely father. He gave me music in my life Tuggle.”

He initially started working with Fleetwood Mac after Christine McVie left the band before going on to work with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey for their projects away from the group.

Speaking of the conflicting issues, he said: “It came to a point where Stevie said, ‘You’re going to have to decide.'”

Brett stepped down from touring in 2021 due to health issues.
