The latest season of Love Island concluded on August 1, with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti crowned the winners after a whirlwind romance.
The couple made it to the final alongside Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page, who came in fourth place; Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope, who came in third place, and Gemma Owen and Luca Bish, who were runners-up.
In a teaser during the finale, it was announced that the Love Island Reunion would return this year with the top four couples taking centre stage as they figure out their new lives and relationships outside of the Mallorcan villa.
Now that the finalists have landed safely back in the UK, fans of the show have been questioning whether certain cast members will attend or snub the reunion show this year, which is due to air on August 7.
But do the Love Island cast have to attend the reunion and why did Jacques avoid Paige at the Love Island wrap party?
Here’s everything you need to know.
Do the Love Island cast have to attend the Reunion?
Aspiring Love Island cast members have to sign a lengthy contract before they appear on the show, which includes what they can and can’t do after they leave the villa.
A leaked contract was revealed in 2021 after it was presented to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport select committee on reality TV.
The contract showed that as well as the main show, the contestants are required to make themselves available to film the spin-off show Aftersun, and “any other making-of programmes”.
Speaking to Huffington Post about what life was like after the show ended, series three finalist Olivia Atwood opened up about her reunion with her family and her busy schedule.
She said: “We saw them for an hour and then we were rushed off and did some more filming.
“Until about three days after I got back, I didn’t see my family properly.
“You needed your parents there but we had filming to do, there was press. That was the first time we got put into this kind of ‘world'”.
Another contestant of series three, Jonny Mitchell, revealed to HuffPost that the Islanders aren’t finished with their ITV commitments after the show ends.
He said: “They’re [the producers] in touch with your family members and friends at home.
“They arrange a reunion-type thing. I went round one of my mate’s houses, so they filmed that. Once you land, you’re still in their pocket.
“We did all the press and thought, ‘What on earth is this?’ Now it’s second nature.”
Have former Islanders missed the Reunion before?
In 2021, Jake Cornish missed the show due to being bed-stricken with suspected coronavirus.
During the special, presenter Laura Whitmore said: “So, sadly Jake can’t be with us this evening as he isn’t feeling very well.”
Will Jacques O’Neill miss the Love Island Reunion?
Fans of this year’s series have speculated whether Jacques O’Neill will return to our screens for the reunion episode following his emotional exit from the show on July 12.
Jacques decided to leave the villa following an alleged heated row with new bombshell Adam Collard.
The rugby player, who was coupled up with Welsh paramedic Paige Thorne, also said he was left “broken” by the hit ITV2 dating show and turned down the show’s attempt to convince him to reconsider.
“I was ready to break down,” he explained to The Sun. “I was feeling so mentally drained, I just wanted to go home and get myself right.”
The 23-year-old also opened up about his ADHD and said doing the series was “the worst decision of his life”.
It has been reported that Jacques will miss the reunion special, which is due to air on Sunday, after he snubbed the Love Island wrap party on August 4 to avoid his ex.
A source told The Sun: “Everybody is getting together for a huge party tonight in London.
“ITV has put everyone up in a hotel so there’s no need for anyone to miss out.
“Unfortunately Jacques has decided he’s just not ready to see Paige quite yet and especially not with Adam.
“He’s made the decision to wait for a more suitable moment to talk to her again after everything he’s been through.”
