Viewers of gameshow Pointless were left less than impressed after Coronation Street star Sally Lindsay stepped in to replace former host, Richard Osman.
The former soap star gushed over her excitement as she joined regular host Alexander Armstrong on the long-running BBC One show on Tuesday as part of an all-star line-up of guest presenters.
Alexander beamed as he introduced Sally, saying: “My new Pointless friend. My first in 12 years the wonderful Sally Lindsay.” And she told him: “This is so exciting and so surreal.”

The star, who played Sally Unwin in Corrie and Lisa Johnson in the Sky comedy Mount Pleasant, asked him jokingly: “Do you feel like you’re cheating? You do don’t you?”
And Alexander told her: “It feels bit naughty but we’ll work through it.”
Richard, whose role has been delivering the answers to the general knowledge questions put to the contestants, said he was ‘so excited’ to be tuning in to watch at 5.15pm with fans of the show.
“So excited about watching this at 5.15. The first time I’ve ever been able to watch #Pointless and actually play along without knowing the answers already. Good luck to the first of the ace new co-hosts,” he tweeted.
Viewers of the popular BBC show were left divided over her presenting skills with many viewers claiming they missed the former host.
Some viewers took to Twitter to complain about Sally “reading” from the laptop in front of her.
One tweeted: “Will you please stop constantly looking down at your laptop and engage more with contestants? Not liking the new look, sorry.”
Another said: “Richard Osman always gave the appearance that he knew the information he was giving, Sally Lindsay is clearly just reading from a laptop #pointless.”
“I’m struggling to get used to Sally Lindsay on pointless reading off a screen. Hope she grows into the role and starts to get more spontaneous,” penned a third.
But many praised the star with one calling out the “haters”: “I love Sally Lindsay. Haters can do one. #pointless #sallylindsay.”
Another agreed, saying: “Watching #pointless for the great @sally_lindsay.”
While a third echoed: “Stop all your bloody whingeing about Sally on #Pointless. Richard did it for 12 years, he had built up a huge knowledge of facts over that time.”
Richard Osman quit Pointless after 12 years leaving Alexander Armstrong with a selection of new co-hosts including Sally Lindsay, Alex Brooker, Lauren Laverne and Ed Gamble.
