In the caption, she wrote: “Moooooorning bright bright sunshiney day to you. This man in TV I briefly knew [said] no one would want me because I was nearly forty and the ideas I had no one would want me anyway.

“He then went on to compare me to my contemporaries who indeed were 12 years my junior.”

Shobna added: “Hey hey, nearly 60 now and feeling prime.”

It didn’t take long for fans to gush over the 56-year-old, with many taken aback at her real age.

“Surely you must mean nearly 40? Haven’t aged since Corrie,” said one smitten follower.

Echoing their thoughts, someone else added: “You look amazing! 60 never.”

“You just get better with age,” gushed a third fan, while another added: “Absolute perfection.”

Since leaving Coronation Street, Shobna has starred in programmes such as Doctor Who, Inside No9 and Midsomer Murders.

She has also written and released a book, Remember Me, which details her mother’s heartbreaking dementia battle.

The book follows the conversations Shobna experienced with her mum as her dementia took hold, and she shared memories of her life with her daughter.

Reflecting on the motivation behind writing the book, Shobna said on Lorraine: “I hope in some ways it breaks down some of the stigmas and taboos that surround his disease.”

The actress also revealed the memory of her late mum lives on in Coronation Street, after Shobna named a character after her.

Her onscreen daughter, Asha Alahan, played by Tanisha Gorey, shares the same name as her beloved mum, as a tribute to her love of the soap.
