Paddy McGuinness tells Alison Hammond 'get your own gigs' after 'following' him

Paddy McGuinness appeared on This Morning on Friday (March 31), with the comedian making a veiled – but jovial – dig at host Alison Hammond.

“Can I just say as well, while we’re here, Bake Off – well done,” Paddy said to Alison about her new hosting gig on the Channel 4 show.

Alison then smiled and giggled nervously as the thanked the Take Me Out host, clearly taken aback by his sweet comment of congratulation.

But then things took a turn as the pair chatted, with Paddy exploding – in a hilarious and jovial way – and urging Alison to stop following him and get her own gigs.

He said: “I’m on ITV, you’re on ITV. I go to the Beeb, you come to the Beeb. I do Channel 4, you’re there,” before pointing his finger at the host and raising his voice to say: “Stop following me!”

Alison burst out laughing, with the new Great British Bake Off host defending herself by saying: “It’s because I love ya. It’s because I love you.”

Taking the joke a step further, Paddy then jokingly fumed: “Get your own gigs Hammond,” before laughing it off.

He then went on to add: “Sick of giving you a leg up in the business.”

This comes as Paddy hosts Channel 4’s new reality show Tempting Fortune.

The gruelling show sees 12 contestants embark on a tough 18-day trek across South Africa’s Eastern Cape.

Given basic survival gear, water, basic food and supplies the contestants – who are all strangers – have the chance to win £300,000.

Although there is a huge prize pot up for grabs, the 12 contestants get tempted with luxuries along the way, which means cash could be deducted from their potential winnings if they decide to indulge.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
