Jeremy Clarkson shares 'gut-wrenching' farm loss when it's 'time to say goodbye'

Clarkson’s Farm follows Jeremy Clarkson as he attempts to run a farm in the countryside and the presenter is vocal about how conflicted he feels about the role.

The former Top Gear presenter, 62, is the owner of Diddly Squat Farm and his farming journey has been documented on the Amazon Prime Video series since 2021.

In a previous episode, the controversial broadcaster struggled to send his sheep to the abattoir but branded the departure of his seven male pigs even more “gut-wrenching.”

Discussing his loss in his latest column for The Sunday Times, Clarkson explained how he struggles when he is forced to send animals to the slaughterhouse.

He wrote: “I can never sleep properly the night before they go, and all the way to the slaughterhouse I have what feels like a hot cricket ball in the pit of my stomach.

“And then when it’s finally time to say goodbye, I always become a little bit unmanly. know that I’m trying to be a farmer and that this is what farmers do.”

The Grand Tour host added: “And I know I will enjoy the bacon and ham and pork chops that result. But it’s not easy, taking seven happy, healthy pigs from their woodland home to their deaths.

“Especially as pig prices are currently so low I’ll almost certainly end up making a loss on the transaction.”

Clarkson’s newspaper columns have garnered plenty of attention in recent weeks, with one leaving Carol Vorderman severely unimpressed.

Last month, the former Countdown presenter, 62, became the target of Clarkson’s weekly column which saw him brand Carol as “awfully shouty” as the piece was titled: “Me thinks Carol doth protest too much”.

In the piece he branded Carol an “anti-Tory, anti-sleaze warrior”, while complaining about her use of the term “disgusted” when talking about MPs.

After reading his column, the I’m A Celeb star publicly hit back as she penned: “Well well. The known defender of women’s rights. Jeremy Clarkson has a go at a woman again

“Jeremy love, if I am disgusted at MPs fibbing & not turning up as they are meant to do, then I’ll be “disgusted”. Glad you used a nice photo tho or I might have been “mildly irritated”.”
