Shirley Ballas has confirmed that talks are underway for her to return as a judge on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing despite rumours stating otherwise.
Rumours had been circulating that Shirley wouldn’t return to the judging panel alongside Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood after she hinted in an interview that she had quit the show.
“Last year I was struggling. It wasn’t just a little bit, it was a lot – the majority of it was in silence,” she told the Mirror.

“I felt the abuse snowballed out of control and impacted me in such a negative way. I’m a pretty stoic person, and I tend to hold everything in.
“When it all kicked off, it seemed like it was larger than anything else. I was crying, I was emotional, but I was embarrassed about being so emotional. I didn’t want to talk to anybody about it.
“And that was an all-time low since I joined the show – it was the most negativity I’d ever experienced. The BBC were brilliant, checking in on me and offering counselling and support,” she added.
However in a chat with Jonathan Ross on his ITV chat show, Shirley put the rumours to bed.
“Well… I do believe it’s in the process,” she confirmed. “Is that the right way to say it? Yes.. their people are talking to my people.”
Shirley also spoke about working on the Strictly Come Dancing tour with fellow judge Anton.
“It was an amazing experience. [Anton] was on it this time – that man is so funny. He comes across as the perfect gentleman, but he’s very naughty behind the scenes,” she told Jonathan.
“He came to my dressing room [and] I had my big girl Marks & Spencer knickers out. The next thing I know, we’re on set and he pulled them out of his top pocket and started to wipe his head with them… good job they were clean, eh?”
