The new Indiana Jones movie has been branded “woke” by some viewers over “socialist propaganda” in its trailer.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Disney’s fifth instalment of the much-loved blockbuster franchise, has not even been released yet, but it’s already leaving some conservative fans angry.
While the movie isn’t set to hit screens in the US until June 30, an exchange between Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen in its trailer has left some people outraged.

So, what’s the offending, “woke” line?
The film follow’s the daredevil archaeologist as he chases down a “legendary artefact that can change the course of history”.
Ford’s title character exclaims: “You stole it,” before Mads’ Jurgen Voller adds: “Then you stole it.”
Waller-Bridge’s character Helena Shaw then chimes in: “Then I stole it”, turning to Indy with a wry smirk, adding: “It’s called capitalism”.
The small piece of dialogue in the two-minute trailer was enough to prompt some people to call for the movie to be boycotted.
One Twitter user wrote: “In the new woke Indiana Jones movie, the black female lead character says ‘Capitalism is just people stealing from other people’. Hollywood loves Communism.”
In reference to the final line, another added: “And that bit of socialist propaganda was it. No to Woke Jones for me.”
Others have slammed the Hollywood franchise’s politically-charge comment as being hypocritical.
A critic for The Mary Sue wrote: “The system that perpetuates itself by stealing resources and labour is the very same one that allows filmmakers to make films.”
The upcoming film is set to be the last time 80-year-old Harrison dons his infamous brown fedora as the series draws to a close.
He first appeared as Dr Henry Walton Jones in Steven Spielberg’s 1981 adventure classic, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, with the film snagging four Oscars.
The fifth and final flick, produced by Lucasfilm, is looking to go out with a bang as it’s the company’s biggest ever budget to date – despite Spielberg being replaced as director by James Mangold.
Indiana’s final farewell premiered last week at the 76th Cannes Film Festival with it receiving mixed reviews.
Some critics attested that it captured the real essence of Indy of old, while others said that it lacked “soul” and “joy”.
