Good Morning Britain fans slam show for ‘unnecessary’ naked sunbather in studio

Good Morning Britain viewers have slammed the ITV show after a debate featured a naked sunbather in the studio.

The morning debate with presenters Ed Ball and Charlotte Hawkins and Nick Ede featured sunbathing fanatic Helen Berriman, who defended the right to sunbathe naked.

However it was the set up in the studio that angered viewers the most, with many questioning why Helen needed to be naked for the segment and then blurred out to protect her modesty.

Presenter Nick then shared his view as he labelled Helen’s love of nudity as “triggering”.

Nick Ede said: “The only bush I want to see while I’m having a sandwich [in the park] is a green one with birds in it, that’s the only thing I want to see.

“You’re not taking into consideration the other people in that environment who might be triggered or might feel offended.”

Helen defended her right to nudity as she responded: “There are many triggers, why is nudity one of them? I can be triggered by the colour of your top, but where do we draw the line?

“If I can help people be comfortable in the skin they’re in, then I consider that a win.”

However it was the way the debate was set up that angered viewers at home, who took to Twitter to criticise the segment and slam the decision to put the naked sunbather in the studio for the four-way debate.

One viewer tweeted: “How ridiculous you have Helen on sitting there naked.”

Another said: “This naked woman is putting me off my breakfast! Please make it stop!!”

Another added: “This naturist on GMB is disgusting and can’t prove her point at all. She just said being triggered by nakedness is no different than being triggered by the colour of somebody’s shirt… But she wouldn’t be naked in front of a school. Men are accused of things daily – how ironic.”

Another questioned: “Why does she have to be naked. If you go on GMB as a footballer do you have to wear a football strip whilst kicking a ball.”

“Why is there a naked blurry women on ITV GMB right now? Bit dramatic,” said another viewer.

One cheeky viewer joked: “Naked attraction on GMB.”

However some viewers agreed with Helen and why she should have the right to be naked – but only at home or in her own garden.

One viewer tweeted: “Some people just want to be outraged at anything. If people want to sunbath naked in their own garden what the heck has it got to do with you.”

Another added: “They should have areas where people can sunbathe naked, that way both sides of the coin are made comfortable and feel safe.”

GMB continues weekdays from 6am on ITV.
