Naga captioned the post: “It’s not actually that warm out there this morning! Did a short run anyway to get going. Feeling better for it and I’ll be in your ear later @bbc5live 11am-1pm Talking more about #adenomyosis and how to raise awareness and ensure better care and diagnosis for those who suffer with it.”
Fans flocked to the comment section to support the presenter.
One wrote: “Amazing first show – thank you – and looking forward to the next. Just had surgery for adenomyosis – luckily without removing uterus but still had to fight to keep. Told it’s the only option next time. I would love to know how can we influence/demand more research – shockingly poor and that seems to be the basis on how decisions/treatment is made?”
A second added: “Thanks for raising awareness adenomyosis. I wasn’t diagnosed until after I had a full hysterectomy. I’d been on the pill since I was 16 because of bad period pain. I remember when they fitted the coil and I nearly shot off the bed in pain, Dr said it should have been painless and made me feel like a bit if a freak for having such a reaction. In fact during the whole of my adult life the Dr’s made me feel like I was over reacting or “putting it on”. We paid for my hysterectomy in the end and my consultant was angry that nobody had diagnosed me earlier.”
While a third penned: “I’ll be listening later, I was diagnosed with adenomyosis last June and I’m really struggling at the mo. So pleased you are raising awareness. Hope you have a lovely day xx”
“Running is so good for relaxing and organising the mind. I’ve had a tough couple of weeks and my timetable has been all over the place but running has helped to calm and give some and order,” a fourth posted.
A fifth put: “I didn’t know of this adenomyosis. I think it’s brave of you to open up about it and how it impacts your life”
“Could you start a conversation about menopause, please? I’m struggling on my own and no one wants to talk about it. Let alone I cannot get to see a GP for HRT. I would love other women to talk to,” another commented.
