Love Island stars who dated across seasons – big feud, wedding bells and bitter splits

Love Island premiered on ITV2 in June 2015 and has so far aired over 10 seasons.

A number of Islanders have appeared on the ITV dating show over the years, and it’s only natural that connections between contestants have expanded beyond the individual series.

In December 2021, Lucie Donlan and Luke Mabbott made history as the first Love Island stars from different series to get engaged.

Lucie took part in the show’s fifth season while Luke appeared on Winter Love Island in January 2020.

As relationships are tested in the Summer 2023 series of the show, Daily Star takes a look at all of the Love Island contestants who have dated Islanders from other seasons.

Mal Nicol and Jay Younger

Mal Nicol dated Jay Younger for six months

2023 bombshell Mal Nicol used to date 2022 hunk Jay Younger, iconically known for sneaking onto the terrace with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu for a smooch.

During his time in the villa, Mal, who reportedly dated Jay for six months before parting ways, had a lot to say about their relationship.

So much so that she described him as “brutal, cutthroat and selfish” and warned the Love Island girls to watch out.

Mal, who is a picture researcher, went on to tell The Sun that it was “brutal” how he dumped her.

Leah Taylor and Danny Williams

Leah Taylor, who is currently appearing in the 2023 series, dated Danny Williams for over a year.

She was spotted on a lavish holiday towards the end of 2022 with the hunk, who appeared on the show in 2019.

While it’s unclear why things came to an end for the couple, Leah has been getting to know the boys in the villa.

Theo Campbell and Kaz Crossley

Professional athlete Theo Campbell appeared in the third season of Love Island, memorably critiquing Tyla Carr for her decision not to exit the show with her villa beau Jonny Mitchell.

Kaz Crossley appeared on the ITV dating show a year later.

The 28-year-old make-up artist featured on Love Island’s fourth series as a Casa Amor contestant.

She ‘stole’ Josh Denzel from Georgia Steele in memorable scenes.

Following Kaz’s post-show split with Josh, she and Theo began dating in March 2019.

The pair officially called it quits 11 months later in February 2020, with reports at the time suggesting their split had been ‘messy’.

Kaz and Theo later endured a tense Ex on the Beach reunion before patching things up.

Theo shocked fans recently by announcing he had welcomed a baby son with a mystery woman.

Lucie Donlan and Luke Mabbott

Lucie and Luke began dating in July 2020, following Luke’s appearance on Winter Love Island.

He coupled up with Demi Jones on the South African-set series, though their romance was ultimately short-lived.

Having revealed that he fell in love with Lucie “at first sight” during an Instagram Live Q&A, Luke popped the question while the couple were holidaying in Finland.

Announcing their engagement on Instagram, Luke wrote: “Mrs Mabbott to be…

“The northern lights made an appearance for the perfect moment to pop the question. A night we will never forget.”

Wes Nelson and Arabella Chi

Wes Nelson endured a very public break-up with his former Love Island flame Megan Barton-Hanson in January 2019.

Their romance came to an end after Megan accused Wes’ Dancing on Ice partner Vanessa Bauer of interfering in their relationship.

Six months later, the 24-year-old singer found love again with an Islander from the show’s follow-up series.

In July 2019, it was revealed Wes had begun dating season five bombshell Arabella Chi, 30, after sliding into her DMs.

Despite a six-year age gap, the couple dated for nine months. They split in April 2020.

Michael Griffiths and Ellie Brown

Ellie Brown appeared as a bombshell in Love Island season four, while firefighter Michael Griffiths appeared in the show’s steamy fifth season.

With both of their show romances – with Charlie Brake and Joanna Chimonides respectively – fizzling out following their villa exits, Ellie and Michael coupled up in November 2019 after separately appearing on Ex on the Beach.

Despite Michael declaring Ellie “the one”, their romance was ultimately short-lived.

In January 2020, Ellie confirmed she was once again single.

Max Morley and Laura Anderson

Max Morley won the first ever series of Love Island alongside Jess Hayes.

In October 2018, he started dating season four Islander Laura Anderson – though their romance ended two months later.

Laura and Max unexpectedly rekindled their romance in May 2019. Nonetheless, their reunion also proved short-lived.

In July 2019, the couple unfollowed each other on social media, with sources at the time confirming the pair had once again gone their separate ways.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
