Emmerdale Mary’s future ‘sealed’ as fans twig murder plot, police twist and new romance

Emmerdale fans have speculated what the future holds for Mary Goskirk as her traumatic blackmail ordeal continues.

Earlier this week, Mary, played by Louise Jameson, received a message from ex-girlfriend Faye Helders asking to meet.

After Mary rejected Faye’s (Jane Gurnett) pleas for a fresh start, she was stunned when her former flame responded with blackmail.

In possession of an explicit photo, the scam artist demanded that Mary exchange her witness statement otherwise she would send the snap to everyone in Mary’s contacts.

As Mary continues to battle with whether to agree to Faye’s demands, fans have started speculating what is next for the character.

Police twist

Faye has been blackmailing Mary

Desperate to stop the private photo from getting out, Mary is distraught and plans to lie to the police and withdraw her statement.

But fans have wondered why Mary doesn’t tell the police herself, suggesting Faye will no doubt end up behind bars with proof of blackmail in addition to her other crimes.

Sharing their thoughts online, one fan wrote: “Why would Mary even entertain this crap, she has proof of the blackmail attempt, just go to the police. Another criminal charge added.”

Fans have questioned why Mary hasn’t gone to the police

“Really don’t understand why Mary doesn’t just go to the police,” added a second.

Another tweeted: “Ummm why doesn’t Mary go straight to the police with that photo? She has evidence of Fayes attempted blackmail. Faye can be arrested the moment she shows the evidence.”

Someone else echoed: “Mary you need to report her AGAIN for blackmail. because if she DOES send that to ANYONE, she will be going down with revenge porn added to her list of crimes”.

New romance

It seemed like Mary had found her happy ending after meeting Faye

Earlier this year, it seemed like Mary had finally found her happy ending after Faye walked into her life.

In June 2022, Mary came out as gay in June last year and it was her first relationship with a woman since opening up about her sexuality.

Therefore it was understandable that Mary was devastated when she discovered Faye’s true intentions.

But it looks as though things could be looking up for the character as actress Louise, 72, has suggested another romance is just around the corner.

Louise Jameson teased a new romance ahead for Mary

“The storylines have hinted that something big is coming Mary’s way in the love life department,” she teased to Digital Spy.

Viewers appear to be in support of the idea as one penned: “Mary deserves to have love give her a proper girlfriend

Another exclaimed: “Hope after miss dodgy con woman all exposed Mary gets a decent honest partner!!! She deserves some happiness in the village!!!! Campaign starts now!!!!”

Murder plot

Faye left Mary for dead

This storyline has proved nothing is off the cards, with Faye going to extreme lengths to get her hands on any money that she could.

When Mary questioned Faye about the charity money being transferred into her own bank account, she sinisterly revealed her true colours.

When a scuffle ensued between the two characters, Mary was knocked unconscious while Faye fled with the money, leaving her for dead.

Could Mary turn to murder to escape Faye?

But now fans have theorised that Mary could get revenge.

One person shared: “Mary, when you meet up with Faye make sure you’re near the killer rock”.

“Faye ‘We could meet tomorrow” Mary ‘Let’s meet at murder bridge, just be sitting on the wall when I arrive’,” added a second.

While a third viewer echoed: “Kill her mary and dump her in the woods you will get away with it”.
