Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews has offered a glimpse into her family life by revealing her pride in son Louis’ academic achievements.
The 52-year old, who plays Jenny Bradley in Weatherfield, took to Instagram to share her delight in his graduation from the University of Manchester with her 105,000 followers.
The actress posted three snaps, the first of which showed Louis throwing his mortarboard hat into the air, with Sally joining him for the second in a loving embrace. In a third pic Louis could be seen enjoying a celebratory dessert.

Sally captioned her post: “Very proud mum klaxon. Congratulations @louis.rhodes Xxx.”
Several of her co-stars from the hit ITV soap were amongst the users quick to respond, meanwhile, who offered their congratulations to the pair.
Sally Dynevor, who has played the role of Sally Metcalfe (nee Webster) since 1986 commented with a series of clapping emojis.
Abi Franklin actress, Sally Carman-Duttine, simply wrote: “Gorgeous, Sal.”
Gary Pierce, who stars as Todd Grimshaw replied with a graduation emoji, whilst former star Ryan Thomas got in on the act too with a heart emoji.
Sally Ann has played Jenny Connor over two stints since she was just 15 years old.
Despite the show’s success and her character’s popularity, she made the decision to quit in 1993.
Among her issues were balancing the tightrope of intense, household name-level fame with being a “normal teenager”.
School was a struggle, she said, as she couldn’t fit in, she was no longer an “ordinary” pupil, rather, a famous actress in the making.
Also, after being called a “little pudding” by a well-known TV critic at the time – when critics were sometimes more famous than the actual actors – she developed an eating disorder.

Roles in other British dramas followed, including The Bill, Doctors and Waterloo Road but Sally Ann decided to forge a massive Corrie comeback in 2015, with Jenny starting a relationship with Kevin Webster before trying to kidnap his son Jack.
Explaining her decision to return, the mum-of-two said: “I thought, ‘I am never going to get away from it. People still recognise me from it, I am dead proud to have been in it, so I should embrace it.’
“And that is when I started thinking about it differently.”
