Strictly Come Dancing’s performing couples are “at war” with show producers over the lack of creative control they have been given over their own performances.
Daily Star can exclusively reveal that all is not well behind the scenes on the popular BBC dance series as both celebrities and their professional dance partners battle with show bosses about a variety of issues such as routine content and song choice. “Things are really tense behind the scenes,” revealed our insider.
“The producers are helicoptering the couples and giving them very limited control over what routines they can do and in which order. Even the song choice is a battle and the couples are getting seriously fed up.”

Our source also spilled that the upcoming couple’s choice performance this weekend wasn’t free from scrutiny by ITV chiefs. “They finally thought they’d have some freedom to control every aspect of their routines this weekend, but they were wrong,” said a source close to the show.
“They understand there needs to be a certain element of control to ensure there are no duplicate routines and that music can be sourced, but it feels like they are being challenged on every aspect of their creativity and it’s become a bit of a warzone.”
Broadcasting from the legendary Blackpool Tower Ballroom last weekend TV presenter Angela Rippon and her dance partner Kai Widdrington sadly left the competition after finding themselves in the dance off where they were unanimously voted out by the judges. Angela Scanlon, former tennis player Annabel Croft, Eastenders actor Bobby Brazier, Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach, West End star Layton Williams and actor Nigel Harman all remain in the competition.
The contestants were confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special earlier this week. The festive episode of the BBC dancing show will air on Christmas day itself and is a beloved tradition for many.
BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent, historian Dan Snow and EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick are among those who will be trying their hand at the dance floor. The Strictly ballroom will be transformed into a winter wonderland in a magical blend of dance, glitter, and cheer as six brand-new celebrities will battle to be crowned Christmas champion.
