Gavin and Stacey star flogging cheap videos to fans amid rumours of show’s return

Mathew Horne is doing Gavin and Stacey impressions in cheap videos for fans amid rumours of the show’s return.

The 45-year-old actor is flogging personalised clips for just £87. Show lovers can also message him for £4 but they aren’t guaranteed a reply.

In one video, Horne – who played Gavin – mimicked Smithy – played by James Corden – who used to call him “Gav-lar”. He also jokingly called a couple getting married “s**gs.”

It was in reference to Gavin and Smithy using it in a jovial manner in one episode. It was reported last week the BBC sitcom is set to be back on TV screens for a Christmas special this year. But co-writer Ruth Jones – who also plays Ness in the show – said it was just a “rumour.” In one Cameo clip to an engaged couple called Gary and Adele he quips: “Gaz-a-lar, Adele-a-lar. Ten years together and you are getting married. What took you so long Gary? Come on man.”

Horne – who himself wed Celina Bassili three years ago – added: “Hope you have an even better day than mine. You s**gs.” In another clip, he tells a fan whose family contacted him: “I just wanted to wish you a very happy wedding day. I hear you are a huge Gavin and Stacey fan so they got you this message from me.”

One show lover Martha said: “Mathew is amazing. Best gift ever.” Another called Kevin added: “You are a legend thank you. And still so so dreamy.” Kate said: “Really nice message and very quick turnaround, thanks so much.” Bafta-winning Gavin and Stacey – also starring Joanna Page and Rob Brydon – ran from 2007 to 2010. It returned for a festive special in 2019.

Fans shared their disappointment in the comments section after Gavin and Stacey creator Ruth branded reports of the show’s return as “rumours”. One person joked: “Cheers Ruth, kids are crying now.” Another reacted: “[My] heart has been ripped to shreds with this emotional rollercoaster.” A third person simply wrote: “Gutted.” Another fan commented: “Well that’s ruined my Christmas already and it’s only February.” Someone else responded: “I’m going to cry.” Another person said: “Devastated.” A final fan wrote: “Crying now.”
