Jeremy Clarkson blasted as ‘novice farmer’ by Vinny Jones in savage swipe

Vinnie Jones has taken a pop at motormouth Jeremy Clarkson.

The former professional footballer and actor has branded Clarkson a countryside “novice” who just “bought a farm”. Vinnie, 59, who is launching a rival TV show to Clarkson’s Farm, grew up fishing and ferreting in Hertfordshire and now lives on 2,000 acres of land in West Sussex.

The ex-Wimbledon star said of his Discovery+ show Vinnie Jones: In the Country: “They’re completely different. Another Clarkson? No, it ain’t. My show’s about the countryside. It’s not about some novice who’s bought a farm.‘”

Jeremy, 63, bought 1,000-acre Diddly Squat farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, in 2008 but only began farming it himself in 2019 for his Amazon show. It’s not the first time Vinnie has taken aim at Clarkson. During an interview on The One Show in November last year, Vinnie said he was very keen that his show wouldn’t draw comparisons to Jeremy’s offering, which is currently filming its third season.

“It brings a lot of lads together,” he told hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. “You know I think mental health is such a massive thing now and going through it myself, obviously, over the last three or four years.

“It’s brought a few lads together and I’ve taken on this farm. This 400-year-old farm and steamed into it and it’s very, very different from Clarkson’s Farm,” he emphasised. We don’t grow anything. We don’t have any animals or anything like that The only animals are the ones that work for me. You’ll see some great characters in it,” he revealed.

At the end of the show, he also reinforced the point making sure he once again let people know that his show was nothing like Jeremy’s. Vinnie was by her side as she passed away in July 2019 after a long illness. Back in 2017 in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Vinnie described Tanya as “the most incredible person”. He added: “I think we’re the perfect match and I was lucky to find it.” They share one son together, Aaron, and Vinnie is a stepfather to Tanya’s daughter, Kaley, from her previous marriage.
