This Morning fans fume and say ‘only a matter of time’ until Ben Shephard quits

This Morning took an awkward turn as Gladiators star Hunter asked hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to lie down on the floor for a gong bath.

The former game show star, real name James Crossley, has turned his hand to making music for relaxation, and encouraged the hosts to lie on yoga mats and relax their bodies incrementally as he bashed gongs and steel drums around them, putting them into a meditative state. But it didn’t quite work, as Ben and Cat repeatedly opened their eyes to glance at one another.

Eventually Ben was left giggling and had to sit up, as Cat grumbled: “You do realise we’re doing this on national television?” Now fans of the show have been left fuming that the segment has “wasted their lives” and think it’s “only a matter of time” before Ben hands in his resignation.

Turning to X – formerly Twitter – one fan penned: “Poor @benshephard suffering every day to feed his family!” Someone else echoed: “How long as we giving it until Ben Shephard quits? A week?”

Another viewer fumed: “This is 10 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.” While another segment critic said: “I don’t think it is working… I think the filming aspect definitely wouldn’t be helping! Cat is laughing and Ben just looks uncomfortable… bless him. RELAX!!! WHY AREN’T YOU RELAXING?!”

A different viewer said: “I think Cat is exhausting poor Ben, I can see him resigning eventually. He’s made a few little comments now about her talking over people. She’s enough to tip anyone over the edge.”

Ben and Cat kept sneaking glances at one another

Meanwhile, fans of Ben’s other ITV show Tipping Point are fearing the star could quit as he makes a permanent move to This Morning. One fretted: “Is Ben going to continue hosting #TippingPoint as well as This Morning? That’s a lot of saturation if so.”

“Will Ben still be doing tipping point?” asked a second. Another penned: “Who is hosting ‘Tipping Point’ now that Ben Shepherd has moved over to ‘This Morning’?”

Discussing his move from GMB to This Morning, Ben admitted he was looking forward to having a slightly later wake-up call. He said: “Not having to get up so early and to be able to have a lie in is quite high up there.”

On what he was looking forward to the most, Ben said: “But seriously it has to be the people. From the team to the guests to, of course, Cat – it’s all about the people. I’ve worked with many of the team on and off but to work with them full time is very exciting.”
