Coronation Street escort Nicky star admits men believe she’s a real sex worker

Coronation Street beauty Kimberly Hart-Simpson confessed men often mistake her for being a sex worker like her onscreen character.

The soap siren played the role of sex worker Nicky Wheatley in the ITV soap back in June 2020. During her year-long stint, she had a sweet relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) where she would often dress up as his late wife Sinead O’Connor following her tragic death in 2019.

But when her time on the soap came to an end, the blonde bombshell confessed that her stint dramatically affected her love life. In an interview with The Sun, the 37-year-old actress confessed that some men even assume that she’s exactly like her character.

She told the publication: “I was playing a character that was a sex worker and then people will always comment on those kind of things. I haven’t experienced too many derogatory comments, it’s not been anything too intense.

“But people are always trying to see if you’re a real person or not as well, you know?” And it’s fair to say her potential suitors would often dish out soap-related chat-up lines.”

She went on: “Oh yeah, it’s always about the cardie because in Corrie, I was dressing up as if I was Daniel Osbourne’s dead wife so I was always in a cardigan.

“So people are like, ‘Oh, where’s your cardie? You can bring that cardie around my house any day’. What can you do?” It comes after Kimberley told us how fans who work in the sex industry have bombarded her with thankful messages for her portrayal online.

Kimberly said people often think she’s actually a sex worker in real life

The TV favourite recalled: “There have been people who have inboxed me personally on my Instagram who work in the sex industry. [They] say it’s good to see somebody like them on TV, because normally it’s a shaming project or a quirky documentary about someone that works in the sex industry.

“This time it’s just somebody that lives on the street trying to make ends meet. So yeah, there has been some wonderful feedback. It makes it all worth it, doesn’t it?”

Loyal viewers will know Nicky left the cobbles in 2020 after Daniel helped her pay off her debts so she could have a new life by the sea with her daughter. Now the soap star has returned to the famous cobbles as she helps Daniel and Bethany Platt get to the bottom of Lauren Bolton’s sudden disappearance.

The beloved teacher reached out to Nicky last week in a desperate attempt to clear his name as police continue to question him about the student’s disappearance.

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see how if the sex worker will be able to shed any light on the teenager’s disappearance.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
