David Beckham has managed to nick an event space that was due to be used by a couple for their wedding day.
The former footballing legend, 49, is gearing up for his 50th birthday bash next year and is already making plans for the big event. This includes finding the perfect space to host the shindig, and doing whatever he can to secure it.
Beckham reportedly was able to settle on the Gleneagles luxury resort in Scotland as the base for his big party to turn 50 in May 2025. However, problems arose when he discovered that the venue had already been booked out by a couple who were planning on having their wedding celebrations there.

With David unwilling to compromise on the venue for his big bash in a year’s time, he made an offer to the couple that they just could not refuse. The former Manchester United player was reported to have offered to pay off the couple’s mortgage, wedding day costs and honeymoon in order to secure the resort.

According to “a friend of a friend” who is close to the couple, David asked to take the date from their hands if in turn he would pay for the couple’s expenses on the day, as well as their luxurious honeymoon. Writing on Twitter, user Ollienarrator explained the situation further.
“A friend of a friend is getting married at Gleneagles next year but David Beckham wants the date for his 50th,” the account said. “So to get the friend to move it so he can have the hotel, Gleneagles are paying for their new wedding date, honeymoon and paying off their mortgage… the power of Becks!”

Reacting to the news, fans of David showered him in praise for showing off his generosity. Many flooded the replies to the tweet with messages of support for the sporting star, with one fan penning: “What a wedding present!”
The original poster responded to the message, saying: “I bet Beckham won’t have to pay either! But yeah, mortgage paid off will do!” Similarly, a second user was shocked at the move, writing: “Omg!!!! That’s absolutely wild!! Ah but so worth it.”

It comes after David’s wife Victoria recently celebrated her own 50th birthday with a huge bash with all her friends. A slew of famous faces attended the party, including a full reunion of her Spice Girl bandmates, as well as Hollywood legend Tom Cruise.
David himself got all soppy as he wished his darling wife a happy birthday at the time. In a rousing speech to the guests at the event, Victoria welled up in front of the 100 attendees, as he branded Posh Spice a “role model” and an “inspiration” to people, as they partied long into the night at the event which reportedly set the pair back £250k.
