Dave Myers’ wife says she feels his presence ‘everywhere’ after his tragic death

Dave Myers’ wife has spoken publicly for the first time since the Hairy Biker’s death.

Myers had been battling cancer and despite a brief period of remission, his condition worsened. The TV star from Barrow-in-Furness sadly passed away on February 28 with his family and friends by his side at the age of 66.

Following his death, Dave’s family were plunged into grief and requested privacy for them to work through the pain his death had caused. Now, his widow Liliana Orzac has given her first public interview on what her husband was like and how it feels now he has passed away.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show on Monday (June 3), Liliana said that the possibility of seeing Dave on television together with good pal Si King added a “different layer of grief”. She added that due to his success and fame, she feels that he is still with her in various ways.

“Everybody who loses somebody in their lives misses them but there’s a different layer because if I turn on the TV, he might be on,” she explained. “There are cookbooks in the house everywhere – he is everywhere; it just transpires and rolls on into this beautiful thing.”

Lili – who got married to the cheeky Northern chap back in 2011 – also recalled how she had met the celebrity cook for the first time. She fondly remembered how the pair had met at a random hotel in Romania, with their meeting happening entirely by chance.

She said of the encounter: “I was running a hotel and he just accidentally ended up staying there, they were booked somewhere else.” Orzac added that he immediately had fallen in love with her and had been showering her with “jewels” of compliments.

However, due to Dave and Si’s busy schedules, things would become difficult for the two to reconnect – but the relationship stayed strong, according to Lili. “We met when he was on the very first series of Hairy Bikers, and after Romania, they travelled to Mexico, Argentina, Turkey, and India, all beautiful places and he used to send me these beautiful emails about the food, people, the cultures,” she recalled.

After filming finished, the pair met up once again and fell in love, deciding to push to be together, alongside her two children from a previous relationship. She also paid tribute to those who had sent her messages of love and support following Dave’s passing.

In honour of Dave’s legacy, a slew of motorcycle fans are now raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK through a charity drive from London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow. Leading the way is King, alongside good pal Jason ‘Woody’ Woodcock.

Thanking the public, Lili said: “After he passed, I had so many messages from all over the world asking how they could pay respect. People wanted to pay respect and loved him for that energy that he always had.”

She added: “This person was saying ‘Dave, brave Dave. Dave should be synonymous with joy, and zest for life. So when we’re having a good day we should say ‘I’m having a Dave day.'”
