Love Island fans are now convinced that Joey Essex knew that his former flame Grace Jackson was going into the show.
Tensions are continuing to rise in the villa as the couples continue to grow their connections in the hopes of finding love. However, some Islanders already have history after Joey’s ex came in to the competition last week, leaving him dumbstruck.
Since then, the pair have started talking again and things have reignited between the couple – with the twosome getting steamy in the pool on Sunday night’s episode (June 16). This has come as a shock to Scouse stunner Samantha Kenny, who was partnered up with the reality titan beforehand.

However, as Grace and Joey rekindle their relationship in the villa, fans reckon that Essex, 33, might have already known that she was going to go into the villa. This comes as eagle-eyed fans seemingly made connections between Joey and Grace, 25, after doing some digging into their social media profiles.
On the show, Grace revealed to the girls that she and Joey had history when they had a “summer romance” last year. However, things turned sour when after just six weeks of wining and dining, the star broke things off with Jackson, leaving her demanding answers.
But fans of the show discovered that at Halloween last year, both Joey and Grace had the same idea for costumes, leading many to speculate whether the pair were still together around October and November. In the snaps, Jackson is seen sporting a sexy version of a Harley Quinn look, whilst Joey was pictured as the Joker, both from the Suicide Squad.
The speculation comes from the idea that the pair were still together when they both signed up for Love Island, as the recruitment process runs over the course of months. Reacting to the theory, many fans gave their backing, saying that Joey had always known she was going to go in.
“Joey probably knew for months he was gonna be in the villa and like others have said, he’s a celebrity so he’s definitely got a contract for the show,” one fan wrote under a post on Reddit. “He’s there to cause some drama and the producers are trying to give him a super convenient storyline right now.”
A second user said: “It definitely seems like Joey always knew she was coming in. It’s very likely they spoke prior to the season starting and he was just waiting for her to show up this entire time.”
Whilst a third fan fumed at what the move could mean for what is next for the show altogether: “What a stupid move by the producers if they are indeed an ongoing couple. Such blatant fakery is not good for the future of the show – it was a mistake even bringing a celebrity in, in my opinion.”
Love Island airs every Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
